i was goign through a magazine and i noticed that teh liquid metal had 300,000 PSI is there a another shaft on the market that can top that..???

I don't think so, but psi ratings are not very accurate, I think it is because they talk about the metal the shaft is made of, but the shaft is sometimes weaker because of density and shape and whatnot. I've heard mixed reactions about the liquidmetal, and I've decided it isn't reliable. Sometimes they work like a dream, but sometimes the snap with a minimal check.

i agree...even a db803 is lighter...get a titanium or something...sure itll be heavy at 1st..but u get used to it anyway so why not get a strong but heavy stick (titaniums not even that heavy)

liquidmetal it's self has 300,000 psi but where gait faulted is they made two halfs and welded them together thats why its so easy to brake...it's a clever marketing scheme though

why the hell would they make two halfs and weld them together... and not just make one whole shalf.... would that same time and money??

ITs becuase lax companies theses days just wnat money they don;t care really about anything eles..just like the kevlars of warrior very big marketing scheme cuz kevlar is strong if it has many wraps of kevlar but one will not make it stronger at all..just make it have less vibration but then agian who cares about that its lax?

isnt that the splitshaaft that they welded together?

No the splitshaft is just one whole piece of metal with a paint job on half of it. Pretty cheap.

RYU made a good post about this awhile ago...
PSI is a statistic used to measure the raw strength of the metal. However, in lacrosse, the thickness of a shaft is also key in measuring a shaft's durability/strength. For example, look at the F15. It's made out of CU31, a pretty low quality metal. However, the shaft is very thick, giving it a lot of strength/durability.
And then, look at the ignite. it's made out of the same metal as the F15, but the walls are very thin. The Ignite is probably the weakest non aluminum shaft in production.
The liquidmetal is a db803 coated with liquidmetal. Meaning, it is not pure liquidmetal, and the PSI strength doesn't reflect its real strength. Also, first generation liquidmetals were welded weakly (the shaft is made out of two pieces), causing the shaft to split in half.
The moral of the story here is-PSI is a bad statistic, and if you want a strong shaft, stay to a thick titanium handle.

hey Lax101, if the first gen was welded weakly, is the new gen. as strong as it is supposed to be?

I'd hope so.
However, they're still not going to have as much raw strength as that 300,000 PSI implies. Remember, its just a db803 coated with liquidmetal. If the entire shaft was made out of liquidmetal, then it would be another case. Db803's are fairly strong, and liquidmetal would give it a decent boost, so I would say the new liquidmetal is pretty strong. However, I would still stick to titanium if you're looking out for raw strength.

no the slitshaft is kryto pro for strength at the top and carben fibor at the bottom for grip

why do you need that much strength in your shaft guys i mean for box is one thing but how much strength do you need honestly 300,000 is rediculous to pay for . i have played with one and yah its nice and light but an 803 is just as light and cheaper.

it is a light shaft and it happened to be strong,.i have a db803 too
