Materials:

- 2 Sidewall Strings (approximately 18”)
- 4 Leathers
- 2 5 ½’ Crosslace
- 1 6’ Crosslace
- 1 Hockey Lace
- 2 Nylon Shooters

Step One – Leathers/Sidewall

Although you can put the leathers in normally, I prefer the way I show in the pictures. This way makes the pocket cleaner in my opinion. If you want to do it like I do, just cut the top slit off of the leather and follow the pictures. Make sure you pull the leathers tightly.

The sidewalls are the easiest part of the pocket. Follow the steps in the pictures and you should be fine.

Step Two – Learning the Knots

The knots on the Torpedo Pocket are the same as the ones on a Rock-It Pocket. In this picture, the one on the left is interlocked correctly and the one on the right is incorrect. There are more instructions later in the tutorial.

Step Three – Channel and Knot #1

Take the six-foot crosslace and thread the string through the tops of both inner leathers. Make sure you get the two sides even.
http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/2337/torpedopocket0211ah.th.jpg (http://img128.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocket0211ah.jpg)

Now cross the two sides of the crosslace to make an x, then again to look like the picture below.
http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/8416/torpedopocket0242cn.th.jpg (http://img170.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocket0242cn.jpg)

Put the crosslace over the leather on each side and make a knot that looks like this:
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/2206/torpedopocket0261lw.th.jpg (http://img114.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocket0261lw.jpg)

Now, repeat the last step to make double knot. Make sure the knot is tight enough that it won’t slide around on the leather.

Keep going down the leathers doing this same thing.
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/1923/torpedopocket0305la.th.jpg (http://img114.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocket0305la.jpg) http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/4006/torpedopocket0325ra.th.jpg (http://img114.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocket0325ra.jpg) http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/9884/torpedopocket0336tc.th.jpg (http://img114.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocket0336tc.jpg) http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/3102/torpedopocket0368pr.th.jpg (http://img114.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocket0368pr.jpg)

Now tie off the crosslace after the last knots.
http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7365/torpedopocket0386wg.th.jpg (http://img80.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocket0386wg.jpg)

Step Four – Outer Twists and Knot # 2

Take the two 5 ½-foot crosslace pieces and put them through the holes on the top of the head and under the two outer leathers. In order to interlock the double knots correctly, you will have to go under the leather and through the first knot. It is very complicated to explain, so look at the step-by-step pictures and you should be able to figure it out. It is just like the single knots on a normal traditional but doubled. After the knot is done, twist the crosslace as shown in the pictures.

Step 5 – Tying Leathers

This step, although simple, is very crucial. If you don’t tie the leathers off correctly when you catch a hard pass a lot of slack will come through, making your pocket both inconsistent and illegal. I prefer the Rock-it Pocket method:
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/62/torpedopocket0512ny.th.jpg (http://img36.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocket0512ny.jpg)

Step 6 – Shooting Strings

This part is pretty easy. You can do these any way you want but I chose two wrap around nylons and one twisted hockey lace. It throws really nice this way.

Pasting all that stuff was the hardest thing I have ever done.

Follow these pictures when doing the knots and it should be alot easier to figure out. Green is knot #1 and white is knot #2 (just like in the pocket itself).

Simple so far, just a regular old knot from any traditional pocket. Now do the same thing again. It should look like this.
http://img272.imageshack.us/img272/8544/torpedopocketknots0056jm.th.jpg (http://img272.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocketknots0056jm.jpg)

This is when it gets tricky. Remember white is knot # 2 (the one that attaches the twists to the channel).
http://img316.imageshack.us/img316/8942/torpedopocketknots0082wj.th.jpg (http://img316.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocketknots0082wj.jpg)

It is hard to tell where exactly you go on that, so this is the underside of the leather. If this picture confuses you, ignore it. All you are doing here is interlocking the crosslace pieces exactly how you would in any other trad pocket. Look at Kryptics pita tutorial if you don't know how.
http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/8344/torpedopocketknots0094js.th.jpg (http://img79.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocketknots0094js.jpg)
See, it goes through the top part of knot #1.

Now repeat this but go through the bottom part of knot #1
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/6413/torpedopocketknots0139mr.th.jpg (http://img7.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocketknots0139mr.jpg)
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/19/torpedopocketknots0149kb.th.jpg (http://img7.imageshack.us/my.php?image=torpedopocketknots0149kb.jpg)

That's it, very simple. Pull everything tight and you are finished.

It's a Brine Oz. Oldschool straight head. Actually its more onset than straight.

viper man can you do 1 on reguler traditional pockets i cant get them right but i did this 1 on a old icon and it works great so if you can show a traditional pocket that would be great cause elacrosse just confusses me

There are already 2 normal traditional tutorials on this website that seem great. Go to the tutorial list and you will see them.
