I read a couple posts on here and they, combined with observing this guy on my team, propted this thread. What goes into being a true "stick doctor"? I've read people on this forum who talk about how they're constantly re-stringing their sticks, and the guy I mentioned who's on my team is the poster boy of that. He has at least 4 sticks, all of which are different in some way every time I see them. He's never used one more than 3 practices in a row, and before every game he gets out early and throws with every single one before he decides, and sometimes still switches at halftime. People say what a good stringer and "stick doctor" he is, but I don't get it. I consider myself a stick doctor, have since high school. I string any mesh you want, pretty much all of the worth while trad variations (I dont bother with any of the Van O'Banion coil pockets, I think they are all worthless), and nobody has ever complained about a pocket I've strung them. I own 3 sticks, 2 razers and a finalizer, which are all strung with an identical mesh pocket. Each time I pick up a stick, I can throw with it just fine, no matter which stick of mine it is. Shouldn't that be the definition of a stick doctor? I dont think its so much all the fancy pockets you can string, because so many of those will become real incosistent real quick. To me, if you can string a pocket that is going to be consistent and do its job every time, then you are what a stick doctor should be. Thoughts, ideas? I know this thread was long as hell, but I wanted it to make sense and spark some discussion.

Personally, a stick-doctor is one who can string any pocket, string a pocket made for someone's special throwing technique (if possible), and makes the stringing as beautiful as Kryptic's. [/end arse-kissing] :chuckle:
Look at Kryptic's Pita Pocket tutorial, and you'll see what i mean by "beautiful stringing." His stringing is all so neat, i can't get over it.

I think a stick doctor is a person on your team that restrings head or fixes a broken sidewall string. Stuff like that. "doctoring the stick". But a good stick doctor can should be able to string about anything so they can fix anything

Stick=Lacrosse Stick
Doctor=someone who fixes something thats broken...
Ahh so you see a stick doctor is someone who fixes broken lacrose sticks...or someone who can fix broken lacrosse sticks...
My $0.02 says theres a difference between a stick doctor, and a person who can string any pocket perfectly...the person who can string all those magical pockets is more like a pocket genius or sumthin like it

ya I think to be a true stick doc, you should be able to string every stick the same, with no hook, no matter what pocket it is, including, mesh, trad., custom, and w/e else you can string. just my opinion of a stick doctor.

i'm one of two stick doctors. i'm useually the guy who get's all the girls team prob.'s. and the guy who strings most the beginners sticks and/or stick's they just baught. i think a stick doctor is just someone who can change u'r stick to apply to u'r needs. a bunch of kids don't need the string job. but because of their abbility they're looking for somthin that will fit their needs. that's a stick doctor to me.
