A bit of background first. Im 18 and English. I play midfield and FO, Im 6'2'' (approx) and Id guess 160 pounds. I've been playing since I was about 14 and until my final exams in HS, swam a couple of times a week went to lax training each week, did karate once a weekand was in reasonably good fitness (I was one of the fastest in my and had good endurance). During my exams I stopped all this because my University (college) wants pretty much top grades and then when the summer holidays I had tno way of getting to swimming etc.

I have a tournament on the 3rd of September, which is about 2 and a half weeks away and I emailed my University and they asked me if I want to play in the tournament so Id dont actually know any of them yet. And over the summer I've worked on stick skills, particularly my left hand.

The standard of the tournament will be quite high, with quite a few England players playing in a couple of teams, on the whole I might be out classed as a lot of teams will consist of adults between 20 and 30.

So, the Q, considering the tournament is 2 and a half weeks away, how should I spend my time?

Continue to practice on stick skill?

Do sprint work to build explosiveness?

Do endurance work so I can last through all the games that day?

(There will be multiple 30 min game that day with a 30 mins break in between each game)

And before someone says search, Im asking the type of training I should do, not particularly specific exercises (which I'll search for when the time comes)

Also, I know its late for getting in shape but I've been on holiday recently and it was too hot for me to be bothered sprinting.

hit the wall, work on shooting on the run, and try some sprinting drills.. doing about 15-20 minutes a day of cardio should help if you do it for two weeks straight..

you said you might be outclassed by these guys, so if i were you i work on endurance. if you can outrun them later in the game you can outplay them. just a thought, but if they see you running your butt off, that'll probably earn you some respect.

Thanks for the ideas. I've been hitting the wall for at least an hour (normally 2) every day for well over a month. But I'll do the other stuff too, Uni doesnt start until 17th September-Freshers' week is going to be great! Thats a good point about being able to run and get respect as with me joining a Uni team who dont know me, and them having a squad size of 18-20(very big compared to most UK teams) I'll need to get respect and fight for gametime. They need a faceman tho, which shud help.

Anyways, I'll be sure to implement all of those ideas.
