Before you say it, I searched to the best of my abilities so if you find a thread on this, dont eat me alive.
Yeaaa anyway all my friends snowboard except me, and I wanna get into it. I wanna know, what do you really need to snowboard, what brands/boards/boots/ w/e are good, etc. Gimme the run down. I have $$ so thats not an issue but I dont wanna spend TONS of $$, you know? So boarders on the forum help me out.

of course....BUT BUY IT !!!! hehe....its good starting stuff tho
Yeah, so here's what I say.
GOOD BOARD BRANDS:
Rome
Lib Tech (Despite what Sully thinks)
CAPiTA
K2
Expect to pay 400-500 for a killer board, unless you go to your local shop and buy because they might still have summer prices. I got a $400 for $200.
BINDINGS:
Rome
Burton (I really like Cartels)
Drake
Technine
K2
I have Drake Leblancs, or MLB's, as some call them. Really sturdy and inexpensive binding. Good buy, holmes.
BOOTS:
32: Lashed are awesome. AWESOME. They have brand new boots that look hecka tight, too, the Vaders.
Northwave: Sweet boots. MFM shreds these bad boyz.
DC: DC rocks.
K2: I like the T1's. I like K2.
My personal set-up would be a Rome Agent, killer park board, 32 Lashed, super comfy boots or the DC Park Boot, and Technine MFM's or Rome Targas or Rome 390's or Drake Leblancs. Of course, that's me.

I recommend so ride bindings (my favorite) they are the most comfy, drakes are too stiff and burtons dont have enough support and usually if they do they tend to break which happend to my cartels.
for boots try ona bunch and see what you like if your going for the most comfy go with north waves if your goin for stiffness I would check out the danny kass vans they are pretty ill or I would check out some higher up burtons.
boards I like a medium flex so I would say stick with something like burton air or the tadashi fuse (the board that I wish my feet would fit on) the custom and the raven are nice but I like ride boards I would go with either the havoc or the kink and maybe the forum destroyer or the forum team would be an excellent choice or the forum raider .
as for board length I would go with 147 to 154

I can pick up a danny kass board for 170 if any one wants one.

Wow. I have (almost) the exact same set up. Rome is the best company ive ever dealt with. The Lashed boots are unbelievable.
My Solution with its old Ride LX bindings:

I have a Punch 145 for sale too, but I think both are going to be too small for him. Raine had a good post in this thread (despite his reccomendations of Lib Tech and DC's {too heavy}), so I'd look at his advice. Never ridden a Rome so I can't comment, though I've heard they are real nice. Definitely look at last years boards to save money. I got my RIDE from the season before at half the price. 32 Lashed's- If you don't get them, you're a failure.
Here's my old punch if anyone wants to buy it: http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/2562/pictures030408042030ot.th.jpg (http://img375.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pictures030408042030ot.jpg)
I've had both a burton and a GNU board, just ordered another burton board. But I LOVE my gnu. If you want a great all around board pick up this years GNU riders choice or the danny kass model.
Where in MD are you? if your near annapolis go down to East of Maui and talk to Mark, he will hook you up with the right stuff you need with a good price.
