us girls always have that problem, tell him to drink slimfast in the morning, then go for a jog before school, then eat less grains and more fruit, then run more, then eat less.

more protein, less carbs. if you're body doesnt have any carbs to feed off of, it'll go to protein next. that way, he can keep his muscle mass up while cutting back on his fat. and, eat lots of green vegetables... brocoli, celery, okra, that kinda stuff... green veggies are basically just water

run run run run...drink water not soda. Ask your track coach or your trainer and football coach also soccer coach for conditioning exercises. all schools should have one. Soccer probably has a great one. but run and lay off junk food and sodas!

Fruit is no good, high in sugar

that's pretty much it. Carrots, lettuce that kind of stuff. Steak and grilled chicken and things like this are good. If he wants to lose wait tell him, no soda, no sugar/candy, no mayo, no fruits. Stay away from fast food. Tell him vegetables, peanut butter is okay because your body needs oil. Protein is good. Also no dougnuts, bagels, cake ect. He's going to seriously need to diet. Drink LOTS of water. Here's the best advice, tell him to fill a big glass of water up and just chug it. Then fill it up again and drink it normally. It's also a good idea to drink large amounts of water before meals, reason: you can trick your body into being full, so you won't be as hungry. He's then going to need to add in some cardio stuff to burn calories. Its going to take a lot of self discipline :banghead

good luck.

I agree with all of the other posts, I would just add that increasing the amount of fresh, green, leafy vegetables that are eaten on a dailly basis are a great way to change diet for weight loss. Careful on what you eat, it gets reflected in the mirror.

As for exercise, lift to build muscle mass...muscle burns more calories, and if you lower your caloric intake you can actually start burning fat as fuel...(ketosis, its what the Atkins diet lives by). Do cardio to get the ratio of calories in vs. calories out to lean more toward the calories out and he'll lose weight. The cardio needs to be done at a minimum of 3 times a week and 30 mins. a pop.

Good Luck.

First, instead of eating three large meals in a day eat six small meals in a day. This will help speed up your metabolism and reduce hunger throughout the day.

Second, run. :)

Third, hit the weight room. As a beginner try lifting light weights three times a week until you begin to build up muscle. The added muscle on your body not only makes you stronger and better looking, it speeds up your metabolism. You can find plenty of information on exercise routines in the internet. I've even made a recomendation to someone in another thread in this forum.

Also, although drinking water WILL NOT trick your body into being full you should still drink tons of it. My ice hockey coach always said if your piss isn't clear you're not drinking enough. Water is much better for you then soda, sports drinks, etc. On the other hand, drink milk with all of your meals.

Most importantly, set aside a specific day a week that you pig out on. A diet and good exercise routine is worthless if you can't stick to it. By setting aside an entire day where you can go nuts, it helps keep you focused and gives you something to look forward to.

im gonna slightly disagree with jestah, on that one day a week, you really shouldnt just pig out and go nuts. just have an extr alittle something that you havent. this is the diet i follow

breakfast-some kind of cereal bar

lunch- turkey breast on wheat , fat free yogurt, granola bar
after school snack- salad with fat free dressing
dinner- some type of lean meat (turkey, chicken breat, pork)

and i go to the gym four day a week to lift and run.

And yesterday i followed my normal diet mostly, except i had some pizza for dinner, and a muffin.

ABSOLUTELY NOT, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially if you are talking about getting in shape!!! save the cereal bar for a snack if u must.

i dont have time in the morning for anything else, and id rather eat that than nothing. Its not gonna kill me, especially with all the cardio i do.

i can't gain or lose weight for some reason. unless my fat turns into muscle... oh i don[t know, i just know that everytime i step on the scale its the same thing. altho, it seems like over the summer i slim down, but i guess i dont. i never have time for breakfast, i wake up at 6:45 and leave my house at 7:00 am. i get to school at 7:23, school starts at 7:25, so i sprint to class, or make up some really good BS excuse to why i'm so late. i usually grab a nutra grain bar, but forget to eat it, so i eat it during lunch.

LatinBabe

wake-up at 5:45
showered and dressed by 6:45
Make breakfast (scrambled eggs) 7:00
at school by 7:30
run till 8:15
vball practice first period at 8:15
vball practice over it 8:50

lunch at 11:50 (sandwhich of some sort and carrots)

school out at 3:30
Run from 3:30-4:00
lax practice 4:00-6:30
jog 6:30-7:00

Much of my day is already devoted to sports, so I have little freetime. yeah, I gain a few pounds a year, and its all muscle apperently, but I feel good about it.

wat he does is at breakfast he has otmeal witan orange, he then has an apple 3 hrs later then he has lunch usually turkey with a bana no bread or sometimes wheat (mostly 1 day of the week), 2nd snack is eggwhites form a deli no oil lowfat pam, then dinner is a meat like chicken, steak, lambchops, w/e. he has water with every meal and does cardio 5 days a week for 20 minsa and lifts 56 days a week. THANKS TO ALL THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

cuse10d - The main reason why I suggest pigging out is to have something to look forward to.

Too many diets leave out cake, pizza, hamburgers, etc. Theres nothing wrong with these foods - in MODERATION!

By deviating from your diet a single day a week you give your body something to look foward to. Also, it makes going out easier. You can go out with your friends to Applebees if you want.

laxbabe2121 - if you really want to lose weight or get in better shape, PM me. Although far from an expert, I take a lot of pride in my body.

Oh bad idea. Your body needs nutrients, this is very unhealthy. Your body will start to break down your muscles for energy/nutrients! You definitely need to eat, just eat healthy.
