i think they're "stones" of calcium that build up in your bladder.

slinkyspine

Its actually caused by chronic dehydration which stops the body form using nutrients properly whick can cause build ups in kidneys

Per Trilax's reference (good reference)
The most common type of stone contains calcium (KAL-see-um). Calcium is a normal part of a healthy diet.
Calcium that is not used by the bones and muscles goes to the kidneys. In most people, the kidneys flush out the extra calcium with the rest of the urine. People who have calcium stones keep the calcium in their kidneys.
The calcium that stays behind joins with other waste products to form a stone.
A struvite (STROO-vite) stone may form after an infection in the urinary system. These stones contain the mineral magnesium (mag-NEE-zee-um) and the waste product ammonia (uh-MOH-nyuh).
A uric (YOOR-ik) acid stone may form when there is too much acid in the urine. If you tend to form uric acid stones, you may need to cut back on the amount of meat you eat.
Cystine (SIS-teen) stones are rare. Cystine is one of the building blocks that make up muscles, nerves, and other parts of the body. Cystine can build up in the urine to form a stone. The disease that causes cystine stones runs in families.

thats a helluva lotta protein. heres a protein tip: your body uses calcium to break down protein, and because you are taking so much protein, a large portion of your bodies calcium is going towards breaking it down. your body MAY suffer from bone loss because of this calcium deficiency. you shouild think abvout taking calcium citrate pills to prevent this.
note: i learned this from my friend who learned it from his trainer.

well i take my protien in milk.. does that do anything? Like ill take a scoop of 22g's and mix it with 2 cups of milk. and do that about 4 times aday, plus i eat mabe 1 chicken breast, and a turkey and ham sandwich,... with lots of turkey and ham. and im just wondering if i should cut back because of the risk of kidney stones, so i guess not if they cant be formed by protien.

i have stones... i actually have 5 more in me. ive passed 2 already.... i guess its equivilent to a male giving birth which ill agree with any day. my stones were from either uric acid or calcium deposit, i cant really remember id have to ask my mom, but it hurts more comming down through your urethra rather than comming out itself. trust me they arent fun.

My dad's had two and they were terrible for him. He was unable to do much when he started feeling them. Just last week actually, my aunt got one, but the killer part is it's the size of a marble. Talk about pain! She took some stuff to break it up, but it just means a ton of small ones. She vomited for like a week and seemed deathly ill before we found out.

I've heard of a "natural" way to break down kidney stones, I don't know how well it works, but I'm sure you can find info about it on the net. You have to drink like 6 cans of coke within an hour or 2 and you need to drink some sort of oil, and it is suppose to break up the stones so that it doesn't hurt when they exit you. Like I said, I don't know how well it works, I just remember hearing it from my old room-mate who always had trouble with her Kidneys.

Here you go:

I can't believe, I had "natural" and coca-cola in the same sentence. Also remember that these kind of "cures" are not doctors orders, whenever doing something like this it is a "at your own risk" but I can imagine that if your about to shoot a small rock out of yourself anything is worth a try.

Cranberry juice's acidic properties help smooth out/ dissolve kidney stones. drink lots of it, and you'll be fine. I don't think protein gives you kidney stones considering I eat 350g a day.

MOP... protein does cause them and cranberry juice works..... what my mom did once was bought me a 24 pack of labatt and told me to drink up.. it killed two birds with one stone because i got so drunk i couldnt feel how much it hurt and it was peeing like every 10 minutes and eventually passed it. it was cool except for the fact i threw up on the carpet eventually and she said shes never letting me drink when i have my stones again

Lmao, hey buds hate to tell you but my friend had them n he told me that his doc said everyone MIGHT get them by the time they turn 21. I mean by then you'll have a heck of alot of protein in you but I dunno. In one lax practice he was running then all of a sudden just broke down and fell to the ground in pain.. and thats when he discovered he had them. His weren't big either. Cranberry juice is my best friend.

BTlaxripper, a mod, has had kidney stones. I don't think he'd mind if you asked him.
Yes kidney stones are basically a buildup of "sediment" that builds up in your kidneys and is rolled into a "stone". These stones usually come equipped with jagged edges as standard.
These stones move through your kidney (not painful), then through the small tubes that connect your kidneys to your bladder (painful), then through your urethra (by now you should be in the hospital doped up so you don't feel anything).
Kidney stones can be caused by several things, mainly:
-caffeine
-dark sodas
-dehydration
If you run alot at lacrosse practice (which you should), and do not get many water breaks, try to drink as much water during the day, and stay way from soda during the season.
It is the most painful thing I ever experienced, and is one of the most painful things in existence, I wanted to die :banghead: , it felt like my kidney was exploding and I thought I was going to turn diabetic/die, I ended up vomiting from the pain and almost passing out. . . this all happened while I was home alone.
I ended up spending a week in the hospital hooked up to liquid hydration 24/7, making bathroom trips ever twenty minutes, and doped up on morphine and liquid ibuprofen, and they gave me painkillers for any other surges of pain.
Then it caused a bladder infection, I felt like I had to pee constantly, but nothing ever came out, it suuuucked.
Not a good experience.

The Human body requires 8 glasses of water a day, which is 2.2 liters. (Alot trust me) you ca buy jugs at wal-mart that are like water bottles but 2.2 liters so you can bring em in your car and all over the house, i got my self one, i don't use it very much i drink alot of milk which makes up for the water.

hey btlaxripper, how long were u on morphine? i hear that when you come off morphine after being on it for a while your body becomes somewhat "dependent" on it and youll shake uncontrollably. is this true?
Spoon's
09-11-2005, 10:22 PM
yea my friend said that happened to him. he broke his back and the doctor prescribed him morphien and when he got all healed he said his body craved it, shook uncontrollably and started resulting to the closest thing to a drug that it could get... like tylanol or however its spelled, or caffiene.
