So I decided the world needed to be told of one of the most interesting and fun things that can be done on a lacrosse field. Underage drinking in not encouraged until at least 18.
BEER SPHERE:
Send your freshmen on a beer run before practice. 5 cases is a good minimum.
You need a lacrosse team capable of playing catch with one hand (for the most part)
Wear one glove, with the stick in that hand. In the other, equip yourselves with a brew.
Stand in a circle like 15 yds wide with one ball in play. All beer should be placed in a pile (still in the boxes) in the middle of the circle. Players play catch until someone drops the ball, at which time the catcher drinks until they pick up the ball. You cant pass it to the people beside you, and there are no pass-backs. (both result in drinking).
If you finish your beer, you have to run to the beer pile and retrieve a beer.
HOWEVER, whoever has the ball can peg the person(s) running for the beer. Now, if he hits the person, the runner has to finish the beer they get and also get another for the game. If the runner catches the attempt, the thrower has to finish his beer and then run for another himself (thus exchanging roles). Other rules can be made up as the game goes (i don't remember a fair number of them now) as long as they help the flow of the game (and the beer).
Bad passes = drink
falling over = disqualification
freshmen talking back = they all finish their beers
Cold beer = wear 2 gloves (they make great coozies)
No more beer = end of practice (or the search for a sober driver for more beer)
tell me what you think - any lectures
dont drink and drive
