So to beat the clamp, I do the jump. Most of everyone I play against perfects the clamp and does it everytime. I do the jump about 80% of the time because it most always works and then through one of my weak clamps in their to throw them off and turn into a mind game. So down to my real question...
I was experimenting with variations with the jump and trying them out against team mates. What I would do is, right when someone says ago, I would pick up my sidewall that is on the ground and push it into the mesh of the opponet and push is stick back, then clamp with my face down (opposite clamp) and then sweep the ball back. Is that legal, going for his stick first first? then using the jump and sweeping the ball back.
I dont know if that made sense. It works everytime if you execute it right but if your a second slow then you can get ur head bent pretty badly losing to a clamp.

I think it would, it would kinda like jamming, then jumping..

I have been told when the other man is faster to just clamp down on his wrists, thats dirty, but legal, the move decribed above is just how it should be done, and is fine to do.

Yea one game when I was losing a lot of faceoffs this guy clamped it and I just pinned his wrists down for like 20 seconds he ended up gettting some penalty for not raking it out and delaying the game.

That move is most deffinatly legal, I dont think you can jump with out hitting the other guy's stick first.
And franks: the pentilty that guys got was most def. withholding the ball from play.

I don't see how that's crafty. If the guys has a quick clamp or even semi close to the ball you will hit his stick if you jump. If you want crafty then I'll tell you a move to do.
Warning this is most def. ILLEGAL:
Off the whistle slide your hand down the line parrell to the line.
Once your hand is alittle farther than where the ball is, stick out your middle finger and your index finger.
Then grab the ball with those fingers while you lean your stick a little over the ball to concel what your doing from the ref.
Toss the ball out to the left.
Get the ground ball.

not as hard as you think, I can make it look like I clamped and raked it out. Just make sure you don't let your hand seperate from the stick, and make the head of your stick loosely follow what your doing.

yeah or stick out your index and middle finger so you jam his stick then rake it out. if you get close enough you can sometimes jam with your knuckles too.

the first move is definitely legal. it's the best way to beat a good clamper. if you jam up his clamp, then its way easier to control the ball.

I'm pretty sure these are both fine, but just wanted to make sure.
1. If he beats you with a clamp, you kinda just put your stick over his hands and hold them there until you get a withholding call or something(So his hands would be sandwiched in between your stick and his. The part of the shaft close to the head woul be right on top of his left hand, and the part close to the butt would be on his right hand)
2. If he beats you with a clamp, you just kinda icepick the head of his stick and hold it there until you get a withholding call.
I'm not sure about #2 though.
Thanks a lot, just wondering a bit about faceoffs.
