Eastside Kings have a fairly good outfit this yr although only one player from last years team. Only a couple of 1st year players so should be good. Playing Southern Cross this weekend so all those guys from MCC that Camberwell beat on the weekend, "You're going down!!"

endoftheline
09-10-2005, 02:46 AM
southern crosse gunna kill you.
should be a good match as its essentially 3&6 verse 4&5

chiefs_lacrosse
09-10-2005, 10:29 PM
eastside kings beat southern cross 9 - 4 this morning
was goal for goal during the first half until we got our act into gear and had a five to one goal quarter(3rd)
a tip for other teams - get the sth cross defence annoyed and they will argue and lose a lot of interest in the game

endoftheline
09-10-2005, 11:30 PM
i dont reckon that game counts for much as anyone could see we werent at our best and we were missing 4-5 of our players. Overall it was a pretty poor standard of game for rep level with so many dropped passes and other common errors

haRy
09-10-2005, 11:40 PM
yeh for sure it was such a bad game

chiefs_lacrosse
09-11-2005, 03:17 AM
i agree, our coach was yelling at us and saying 'thats not how you normally train.'
its a shame we dont play in the same pool at the tournament so we could beat you properly :D

endoftheline
09-11-2005, 03:36 AM
hw do you no the pools Im pretty sure we'll be in the same pool because if you finished 3rd??? last year. From what ive heard it will be Pool A-Northern Thunder, Eastiside Kings, Western Metro, Southern Crosse,Eastern Eagles??? and LA Panthers. and Pool B will be Western Reds,Southern Braves, West coast Lightning, Northern Warriors, Queensland, LA Tigers.
This of couse depends if Nsw enter a team or if Queensland enters .

chiefs_lacrosse
09-11-2005, 04:03 AM
i have a fixture which says:
GREEN DIVISION
1. Northern Thunder (WA)
2. Western Metro (Vic)
3. Eastern Eagles (SA)
4. Southern Crosse (Vic)
5. West Coast Lightning (WA)

GOLD DIVISION
1. Western Reds (SA)
2. Southern Braves (WA)
3. Northern Warriors (Vic)
4. Eastside Kings (Vic)
5. ALC Panthers

It may be wrong, but i doubt it is. Anyone who wants the entire fixture, pm me with your email or hotmail address.

Last year they played games before the opening ceremony and then you get changed into your polos. Its much better this way because all the parents are their and you get to stay and watch the other teams for the rest of the day. I missed most of last years opening ceremony whilst in willi hospital with a broken thumb.

And yes, he is correct, we are paying $1300 for the Tournament. We're flying there, and then staying in a caravan park (lol).
Just less than two more weeks left. This'll be my first time interstate, or playing for the state at that. This is also my first year playing in lacrosse.
I'll have a black/red visor CPro helmet, and EVO pro stick.
I might even have "[ t i d g e ]" on the back of my helmet.

09-17-2005, 07:14 AM
Yeah eddie has to cover all his costs of shipping and more importantley import tax so his prices are decent concidering, If you just want one thing you may aswell just go to Auslax but if you are planing on buying more that one thing or some of your mates want stuff to the ordering from the US is probably a better option.

Didnt want WA to win... Ah well...

[ t i d g e ]
10-03-2005, 11:28 PM
Eh, it could've been better. Eagles sucked arse. We even lost to the Panthers!
I didn't enjoy playing the games; I was on the bench mostly because my coach doesn't trust me on the field. Makes me wonder why he picked me. I honestly think we could've done better, at least win a game, if I was on the field more and/or taken some face-offs. I'm good at posessions, checks, and shooting but I didn't get much of a chance to shoot though.
I had fun off the field, I got a new "friend".
Lol, we paid $1300 each player for the tournament, and we were staying in a 4* caravan park...where we had broken beds and bore water.
Anyone notice/see me? I had the [ t i d g e ] thingo on the back of my helmet. #6, Eagles. I was also the guy on the video who was at the Warrior stand.
My best moment would have to have been off the field, just hanging around with our girls team. We had heaps of fun with them.
Your most memorable moments?

-Tidge.

chiefs_lacrosse
10-04-2005, 01:21 AM
most memorable moment was definantly the last game against the braves, we were something like 6-1 down at half time only to come storming home to beat them by 3 goals and finish 3rd overall......oh and i corked my thigh attempting a gary gait leap, lol

The best game for me was when we (southern crosse) played western metro. Even though they beat us convincingly as we were stuffed from the thunder game there was a lot of rivalry as we were staying with western metro and were good friends with most of the guys. All the vic girls came to watch aswell. My personal highlight was when i came out of the cage and flattened dave (no 7) after doing the exact same thing the day before against thunder. I was given a 30 second foul for in the back but it was a pretty dodgy call.
Even though we finished 8th which is an absoloute disgrace i'm confident that if we were in the other division we'd be 3rd or 4th and even if we were in this division and didn't have to face thunder and metro (the two top teams) in two days we'd have a better chance of being in the top four.

jay jay is a good guy but he's hard to play with. He's a good defender and can check and body push great but he can't run and he's quite uphimself. Whatever i'd say to him when the opposition scored he'd think i was blaming him for the goal. The coaches should of probably done more to stop this and eventually they dragged him for half a game. Off field where mates but on field we don't get along. He wanted to be captain and he said that he always keeps his head up but in the first game when eagles scored a goal (we were 7-1 up) he started screaming out obscenities(sp).
The reason we all fought was because there 8 mcc guys and it was a close tryouts. A lot of guys didn't live up to expectations individually so that created *****ing and put downs. We also had a lot of players with short fuses *jay jay*

^^ berry scored 4 but he was lucky to get them, he is a good player though but he's so ****y.

hey all. yeh just joined today. found throughout the tournament not many teams like thunder. why is this ???

endoftheline
10-14-2005, 04:20 AM
because thunder and are arrogant a r s e holes and how it was explained to me the west australian zoning system is setup so thunder and braves get the best players and the keep the thunder team as the state team until under 19's which means they have a strong team but its a fake strength. In Victoria and South Australia the zones are purely geographical so the teams are far more even. The point of the under 15's tournament isn't necesarily to win but to give lots of players a taste of higher level lacrosse and to develop their skills and for future under 19 coaches or whatever to identify talented players early.
Also in Perth everything closed at 5 even safeway/woolworths.

ok in WA it is geographical. we have north and south of our major river, Northern Thunder (north) and Southern Braves (south) with the exception of subiaco who are with Braves. it just so happens that the 2 clubs that thunder pick from have been the best clubs in our U/15's WA lacrosse league in the last few years.

because thunder and are arrogant a r s e holes and how it was explained to me the west australian zoning system is setup so thunder and braves get the best players and the keep the thunder team as the state team until under 19's which means they have a strong team but its a fake strength. In Victoria and South Australia the zones are purely geographical so the teams are far more even. The point of the under 15's tournament isn't necesarily to win but to give lots of players a taste of higher level lacrosse and to develop their skills and for future under 19 coaches or whatever to identify talented players early.
Also in Perth everything closed at 5 even safeway/woolworths.
like berry said we have 2 teams in thunder and the rest in braves. and thunder and braves have been pritty even (with the exception to the 2003 "super team"). i think thunder just ends up getting coached better. like for eg. 2004 braves beat us wen they played us and this yr it was a draw. so ya cant really say we r making thunder a state team

The way they act is they know there best and things should always be there way. Also if you look at the draw I don't think thunder or braves could of had a better draw.

both thunder and braves had rest days before the final which is a huge advantage and southern crosse had to play thunder and then metro the two hardest teams. a lot of people thought southern crosse were going to finish second of the victorians behind western metro and we were always going to be competitive but having to face metro and thunder consecutvely didn't help. Not to take anything from either metro or thunder who both played much better then us and deserved to win.
i geuss what i'm trying to say about thunder is that because they know there good they take the competition very seriously and aren't friendly on field. off field most of the guys are probabaly alright but if someones an a r s e hole on the field then you'll be just as bad towards them. Plus the fact that Thunder always wins doesn't make them any more popular.

Yeah, stop carrying your stick like a stunned mullet! Your Surrey Under 13 Divi 1 side had a few players (Kumar, Purdie, G. Jenney) that could have played on the Kings....New topic of discussion....(saves me from commenting further on your play, Jesse!). Lax Victoria is looking to change the age groups to even numbers: under 12's, 14's, 16's, and 18's. In fact it looks like a strong possibility for the 2006 season. How do you guys feel about that one! In essence, that means last year's teams remain the same. Talk to me about it....

Kumar - good skills but inconsistant. One day he looks like a young michael powell, the next he's trippin over his feet.
Purdie - good face-off and great outside shot. Bit of a "black hole" - once you pass him the ball, it disappears.

The best under 13 is G. Jenney...still has another year of 13's and his stick skills are sick. I watched him a few times this past year after he came back from playing in the states. Very smart (his father is an ex-NCAA player who has coached him from day 1)and consistant week in and week out. In the grand final against Willi he had 8 goals, 4 assists, including a shot between his legs, ala Maracheck. From what I understand, Jesse, he lost to you in the under 13 best in fairest by one vote in 2003, and he was only 9-years old??? How old were you, 13? I hear Jenney has a little brother that is very good as well.

Can't wait to see these under 13s in a few years!

Yeah, Noah is good aswell. Carves up the Under 11's.
Question about the changing to even numbers: That will mean that the Under 15's tournement will have to be picked out of 2 different ages groups.

Jesse, I have it from the junior coord at Lax Vic that the age changes are almost certain. Just have to wait and see what really happens at the junior forum at the end of the month. The thinking at Lax Vic is that they want to keep kids from goin walkabout after under 17's/VCE year. Those high school studies are pretty intense and lacrosse losses a ton of players while they try to finish their studies. Most of them don't come back after that year off.

Yes, under 14's will be playing full contact stickchecking rules....I am just not sure if they will be playing 8 or 10 aside. That Surrey under 13 divi 1 side of yours should have no problem spanking other teams, especially with their stick skills. They really impressed me this passed season. Not a weak link on the team. And three definite guns. Surrey's juniors as a whole have really stepped up these past few years. Not only are you getting good numbers, but the quality is definitley there. Just need to keep 'em. I don't think that will be a problem for the Surrey under 13's. From what I understand, they have played together since they could walk.

What does everyone think about the possible age changes?

Our Juniors are doing awsome.
The new rules really interest me. They seriously need to wipe out the whole 5 foot long pole rule. My long pole from this year barely stood lasted the whole season. It means that us defenders have to buy a whole new stick and chop it down.
If Under 12's have bumping, I think that alot of parents wont want their sons playing. Considering some of the kids that are playing are 8 or 9 year old. And going up from Under 12's to Under 14's with full contact is a huge leap. I belive that most of our Under 13's this year are more than capable of checking, but getting new kids to join at that age would be very hard.

the new rule changes intrest me but i'm also against it. The good thing is that i will be with the chiefs team once again next year from 2005 which means a whole team that can catch and pass but if it doesnt change then i basically get a team in which half can catch and the other half just fill the positions. The bad thing about it that you wil lose young new recruits just like jesse said, because some 12 yr olds, who will be in the lowest age group, have started hitting puperty and when some of the young new recruits, aged 9 or 10, are going to be ****ting themselves on the field when they come across these bigger opponents. And i do remember by the age of 12 i was ready to bump the crap out of someone and to have to wait another year wouldve been bad.........
....i hope you can understand that...

Lax Vic is also considering an Under 10 development league with a smaller field. That would be your under 11's rules. Under 12's would play under 13 rules - without stick checking but with body checking, 4 second time limit, etc....(which I think is regressive and does not develop stick protection. Why would you teach kids to dislodge the ball with a body check and in the process loss your defensive position? It's beyond me. Teaches bad defensive habits.) Anyway, this is not just a rumour...it is now being considered by the Victorian governing body.

Another thing to think about is how it would affect kids games.i think for some players it will be good and some bad. Theres a couple of under 13s at malvern who should definetly be playing 15s next year but theres some who would really improve staying back. Coaches should decide whether to push some kids up or keep some back. There are a couple of players in under 15s this yr who easily dominated like Chris Plumb (footscray) Phil Skiller (surrey) Ollie Smith (malvern). I know both ollie and chris got 90-100 goals and if they had to play 15s again they would be too good and they might become lazy. Either way i don't mind as this year i was in a team of basically all guys my age and that was great but i also prefer to play with the older kids.

This year Surrey had alot of first years. Milzey (Skiller) played in the Under 17 grand final for Surrey this year and he didnt play in our grand final. And it really showed how much we depend on him.
Apparently there is a Junior meeting next week that im thinking about either going to or getting the Surrey Junior Coodinator to explain these points on my behalf.

still getting as many goals as he did, and to finish second on the VLA u/15s goal scoring list is a decent effort, it proves he is good, and if he plays 15s again would do the same thing.

he got 68 at malvern and 15 at chadstone from 2 games so thats 83 all up. He would easily dominate 15s again.

he didnt play for footscray?, mate what are you on about, that hole your digging is getting bigger and bigger. If he played at footscray of course he would not have scored as much cause Plumb plays there

Jesse, did you get to the junior meeting at Surrey? What's happening with these proposed changes?

i played on that team it wasn't just ollie he was just the main finisher. He probably got 60% of his goals from himself by dodging but the rest were due to being setup by the other good players on the team such as phil, mez, jake and jack. Ollie was good enough to know where to be when these players had set something good up and instead of shooting theyd pass to him. Without Ollie we wouldn't of finished 5th but he didn't do it all by himself he had help.

hey guys i to think that the age changes will be a big fault. our teams will b altered at it will become to easy for some players. i found this year easy but we did have afue challenging games if the rules are changed we will have first yr 15ns playing against third year 16ns which can come off really bad.

No We wont Phil. It will be all the same teams as last year.
But it would annoy you and I alot because we are wanting to go play with this years Under 17's.

if they changed the age groups over in West Aus i would crack the poo soooo bad. i found it hard this year playing 15's and 17's getting horrible fouls in 15's coz of height weight overal bigness. would cry if i had to play again.
