Is there anything else that I can do besides this to get in shape. Because I just went to a lacrosse meeting for the parents to get registration and everything done and they said during fall ball which starts next week anyone that is not in shape will be immediatly cut. So am I doing enough or what should I do to get in better shape before next week.
Mon-Run 1 mile (6:05 min)
Tues- Chest and triceps
Weds- run 2 miles (14:00 min)
Thurs- Back and biceps
Fri-Run 1 mile jogging and mixing in sprints
Sat-Legs and Abs
Sun- run 2 miles

u'r gonna hav to push up your miles. to get in shape really quickly u should be doing @ least 4-5 min. it will shed the punds. then after you work out or befor w/e run. however long you can. one mile won't do scwat for ya in a week.

Yea that is what I have been doing all summer, Not just the past couple of weeks.
Should I just raise both by 1 mile. So 2 miles for a short run and 3 for longer ones.

I see a million topics saying Run more miles. Dont worry about weights, just run. Dont get me wrong, running is important but your not running a marathon. If you play Attack you should be able to run fast, If you middie, well then you will need to have a great cardio, Defense you have to be fast. You dont have to up your miles, just do them faster. well thats my 2 cents. In my opinion, the weights are good, just do the miles faster, and if you want to then up your miles.

you might want to do a full body, compound movements only work out once a week(maintance work, so u dont loose ur muscle mass). Then try to do light running 2-3miles twice a week, and a hard run( distance is varied) twice a week. during your hard runs you could sprint randomly to be realistic to game situation. running on soft surfaces will help you in the long run, trust me. Try to steer away from pavement if u can.
once ur already on the team and getting enough running from lax, you can start lifting more times a week if desired.

Franks, if you've been doing that all summer then you'll be fine. Just keep doing what your doing and don't start some crazy workout 1 week before tryouts, cause the last thing you want to do is go into tryouts with your legs tired and sore as hell. Probably the best thing you could do is take the 2 days before your first practice off (maybe some light jogging and strech) so your body is 100% for the first day. Your coach will always throw out that threat of cutting guys not in shape because believe it or not (it happens on every team), there will be guys who show up out of shape, that didn't run or do anything all summer.

I say rest this week so you will not be tired by try out day, one week wont do much, no sense in over-training. Or just do a little less, maybe it's just me but it seems like a lot for a week before. I'm sure you will be fine.

thats not really that tough of a workout program. to lacrossepballer, lets put it this way for his running. if hes setting his time to precisely 6:05, he probably is running his fastest or near it. do you go to the gym and workout by maxing on one lift then going to the next? no. so why would you max out a running routine? with only a week to go, id just keep your training to just 30-45 min runs and then take off the weekend right before hand. dont try and change your diet right before either, wont help. after tryouts, you could resume your weightlifting but just change out that running into like 20 minutes of a slower pace.

I didn't know Anderson has such an aggressive program to be cutting people. That's a good workout schedule, but be careful not to burn yourself out.

Agreed. I do abs with every work out. Its the best way to go...abs once a week will get you nowhere. I've been steadily increasing my weight ten pounds a workout on the ab machine from doing it every other day.

ya swimmings great for you...but with running, i dont care if you run a mile or 4 miles, i would however suggest just one then at the end of your mile flat out sprint the last 100yards or so hard as you can...& i try to do pushups & ab workoutsz(6inch/crunches) at least once a day, before i go to bed or when i wake up but thats just me

crunches every day will be less beneficial than more crunches every other day. I do an ab workout that consists of:
100 crunchers(knees bent in air)
50 crunches
50 extended crunches(legs on floor straight out)
50 twisters ( feet off ground, torso at 45º and rotate left to right)
50 left hip crunches
50 right hip crunches
50 extended crunches
50 twisters
a minute of bicycling
100 crunches
50 twisters
100 crunches
as a non gym ab workout for two days (mixing it up a little here and there with planks or something) then a day off
