I've been playing for years, and still can't get this shot. I can shoot from a 3 o'clock position, and nearly 4, but I can't get the underhand shot at all. I played with a guy at Maryland that could get his stick to 5-6 o'clock and shoot one hell of a riser shot. He was amazing.

If anyone can do it, let me in on the secret. I keep trying, but can't get it.

slide ur hand from the top of the stick (the head) and by the end have them closer together at the bottom. Thats how I do it

what happens when you try? If the ball is sliding off the top of the head, tighten the shooting strings to add a stronger shelf so the ball slides out of the ball easier. also, look where you are shooting once you start to get the motion rather than the stick, it makes my shot a lot more accurate.

more whip makes it easier to shoot this way
but not nessacary making it a better shot

you got to keep the cradle going till you realease cause then it just falls out
and you got to snap the shot with liek your arm, or at least i do
if you sit out there and practice it comes easier
one day it will just click and you can rip it

i can only do 4 o'clock shots, and they always end up as risers, you gotta do a quick cradle in the 5 o'clock posistion, and then fire it before the ball has time to come back down.

I agree with all that is written above. My only addition is that I snap my wrist more than my arms. I let my arms guide the stick and snap my wrists to get the velocity. It is a fun shot to use, but is the most inaccurate of all of the shots, so I almost never use it

Theres an Attack on are team that always shoots from 5 o'clock. I have never seen him shoot overhand. He's about 30 years old though, so I guess is set in his ways.

the secret is that you need to snap your wrists later than you would with other shots. This will make the ball come out of your stick with a greater angle of elevation

i only really see 8 general areas for shooting. i personally don't think a clock analogy is accurate. but whatever works for you...

just keep working and once you hit the spot you want just think about how you did it and keep trying to do that

It took me a while to get an underhand off but I would say it's now my fqavourite shot. It's hard to explain online, but you have to cradle as your shooting to prevent the ball from fallnig out...I don't think I am helping much haha..its hard..sorry

My shooting strings made a difference ...before i fixed em, i couldnt even shoot at 3 oclock but i added a string and strung it differently now i can shoot underhand and my pocket has alot more hold...but im just a noob what do i know?

that's funny i was just teaching the underhand or worm burner shot monday at practice. the key is speed you need to transition between stick high and stick lo really quickly (before the ball starts rolling around in the pocket) you also need to get the shot off pretty quickly, again, before the ball starts rolling around in the pocket

I'm getting it, but sent the ball the full length of the field today with a shot that missed. we have 2 fields, practice and game, and I soared over the game field with no problem. It's great when it works, but I still have a control issue with it. I like it, but wouldn't do it in a game, YET.

practice, practice, practice. your follow thru will dictate the release and the path of the ball, so concentrate on that

its not all that useful, except behind a screen.

I shoot like this alot lately. I feel more confident with this shot because its almost imp[ossible to swat down. The best way to do it is basicly like rolling the ball except switch the words "rolling the ball" with "hockey-style wrist shot". Aim for the spot right before the boundry line towards the far corner, low, and you can snap it into the side of the net or bounce it into the top corner. Once you get this working, its the best shot because low shots are the hardest to save, plus you can start to learn to rise it (this is where the inaccuracy comes, low shots are VERY reliable) into the top corners. Basicly,. with the 5 o'clock shot, you want to hit the Xs:

da cage
---v----
______
|X000X| <- "Risers go there"
|00000|
|X0X0X| <- "BOUNCE SHOTS
______ <- (da boundry line)
\xxxxxx/ <- GO HERE"
\____/

^ da crease

I think you get the point, its like skipping stones with this shot. Its great on bad angles or from up-top.

on the new warrior dvd exposure, mike regan is on it, and they show him shooting multiple times. He shoots the best 2 pointer in the MLL (in my opinion) and i watched his segment so many times and practiced for hours on emulating his underhand, it helped me, but i dunno i did watch that a lot

you can shoot from any angle once you reach the point where you're that comfortable with the ball in your stick..

after that point, you don't need to do any fancy shooter's, or special cradle techniques when you do a "6" o click shot.. it's just natural..

just play more.. i can shoot at probably a 7, and flick my wrists so it looks like a curve (in reality its just the head sliding during the release) all because i play everyday

7 occlock would be pointless because you should shoot tha lefty at 7

i have accuracy problems also. It seems like if i miss my release point a little it flies way high AND way high. still, it's getting better, and i can do it from outside now also

there is no secret to doing an elevator shot its just having good stick skills. When you have it underhand just cradle like you normally would. Raise your shoulder a little bit and aim for top corner takes some practice but works really nice.

To do a 3 o' clock, or however you have fun calling it, you put your stick at a 45 degree and pointing down and wind up and kind of flick it.
