You found a great one right here man. Use the search bar above and look around. Theres some great threads out there and good stickies too. ANy questions feel free to ask.
What position are you thinking of? If not that, what size guy are you? You think dodges and shooting, offense defense and running, or knock f00lz on d would work for you?

It really depends.. your best bet is to try an online store.. they can usually get you a stick within 3-5 business days..
the cost for a good beginner stick can run anywhere from 35.00- 70 ish

I recommend a Gait Icon with standard aluminum shaft. Academy has those...

^^Second vote for the Icon. There is no better dollar value in an intro stick, and it doesn't have to be replaced as fast as others as your skill improves.

First off, Welcome to the forums. Have you decided what position you are going to play? This forums are a good site for information, also http://www.laxtips.com/. Hope you have fun playing lacrosse.

Well...Itll be awhile before I even THINK about going out for a team...and im North Carolina so itll be tough to find one around here probably....anyway im not a small guy but im not huge, last time I weighed I was like 220lbs...if I could pick any position, id probably want Goalie but im probably better suited as something else...thanks for all the help so far, these forums have made something I originally thought of as a far off idea, something that could happen for me! :-)

how old are u and how tall? I just started over the summer too im 15 and about 5'10", 125 (I know im really light). These forums have helped me somewhat too. Ive been playing wall ball about 2 to 3 hours a day once in a while and i am able to throw and catch alot better!!! i can throw left handed pretty well too, wall ball really helps alot with passing and catching. i couldnt even throw the ball now i can with both hands pretty well. i can catch pretty well too. Stick to TLF and it will help you out alot. I'm going to fall camp too. And hopefully ill be able to be ont he school team.

look for local leagues or camps around your area. Ask people who play lacrosse if they know. Also going to a clinic is good because it is for beginners, im going to a clinic in october for novices. (that is me)

all you have to do is just throw the ball, let it hit the wall, then just catch it .. you can also let it bounce before you catch it..
If you stand close to the wall, you won't want the ball to bounce back up to you ..
if you move further away from the wall, you'll most likely have to let the ball bounce back to you.. this may be a little easier starting off
It may take a few throws to get used to where you have to hit the wall in order for it to be catchable..

Greatatlanticlacrosse.com they have good deals and they are reliable. I order stuff from them all the time, and if you dont want to order online you can sign up and get their magazine for free and then get stuff out of there.

Great Atlantic is like the Microsoft of lacrosse. They try to spread their influence with marketing while having expensive equipment. You have to join their club just to get the reasonable but still high price they offer.

sorry to keep bugging yall but, when buying a stick do you not buy the whole thing as 1? like do you buy the head and other part seperate and then put them 2 gether?
WHEELAX2
09-13-2005, 09:01 AM
you can buy a complete stick that comes with the head, shaft, and is usually strung for you.
You can, however, buy everything seperate, the head, shaft, and stringing kit... I would say your best bet is to get a gait Icon strung with hard mesh as a complete stick.. It will come with an aluminum shaft, which is not as durable as most, but will last you quite a long time.. especially if you are new to the sport..
