I was just wondering if anyone in your school gets discriminated because of their race, sex, religion, etc.

my school has a gay/straigfht alliacne club thng.....and they had posters up about a meeting or somthing and some kid ripped acouple down and threw them out and got in trouble, like got brought to court and stuff.

My school had a "all african american lunch" last year, and me and a friend were actually denied entry because we were white. A couple of my black friends told me about it, so i checked it out and was turned away because of the color of my skin. Of course I fought this, and the lunch was pulled.

one of the main reasons for this lunch is the high high ratio of whites to blacks. We maybe have maybe 100 blacks in a school of almost 2000. The vice principals (shes black duh) reason behind this lunch was "so they dont feel so seperated and left out". yeah, so giving them their own lunch away from 97% of the school doesn't make them feel seperated.

btw, they served fried chicken, watermelon and sweet tea. no joke.

Exactly. Same thing with the lunch I was talking about. It just seperates them more, just like this creates more silence.

At my school is somewhat seperated but everyone seperates themselves for some reason. Its pretty stupid if you ask me.

Basically, theres an association helping aspiring african-american people get to college who are qualified and under priveleged. If this associatoin was for whites or caucasions, there would be mass amounts of racial profiling and what not.

MY MAIN POINT: There is always racial discrimination in America and there always will be. So, there are these days and nothing can change that. I hope it can get toned down and i hope something will be done....

I do not think that african americans should want money because of their fore-fathers being slaves. The ACLU would be delighted to represent anyone forbidden to speak, since it could get a decision in its favor instantly.

What are you talking about we have 11 of them, and we only share febuary with the african-americans... When your walking down the streets and you and all your friends look at a cop he smiles at you. as uposed to when a group of black kids which are being completely innoncent.. and some great kids look at a cop they get jacked up against the wall and frisked because they look suspicious and have on a T-shirt with 2-pac's face on it.... being a white kid with some money doesnt have many disadvantages.

yeah my school has tons of racial discrimination, but not the kind you'd think. my school is 95% white. but it's not the kind of discrimination you're thinking of...the white kids just plain don't talk to anyone but white kids. plus most are mormons, which just makes it worse.

and to add to the crap, i play lax which is always overshadowed by football and discriminated against by administration. (occasionally) AND im the only asian guy on the lax team. that bites.

An even more inclusive group would have the acronym GLBTQ, which would add questioning individuals. They probably spend the first fifty-five minutes of each meeting arguing over the proper order of the letters in the group's name. Surely one sequence has to be the least oppressive.

EVERYONE does that around here, PLUS most of the asians parents work at like UCSD or some where doing math/science stuff

We faught to get the term African American and IMHO it still isn't correct for all of us. I have to choose the box on forms and applications because it fits me best, but is not who I truly am. Now does it help me to get jobs if I check the box? To get in college? HELLZ NO!!! Demographics, economics, and race play a huge part in how the world views you. Why don't you check the box and see how many interviews you get...

Most americans are of mixed decent in this day and age. And to say that African Americans haven't contributed to even half of what Europeans did is HOGWASH! America was built on the backs of slaves, native americans, and immigrants. True survival mechanisims were studied and taken from slaves in america and european bouts in africa. We, as well as native americans, were studied and thus europeans understood how to truly survive on this continent from Native Americans and Africans. To be honest, Europe was slow to actually be productive globally. Due to pretty bad weather and land conditions, they relied on only certain commodities to get by. Europe was the true GHETTO for a long time. It wasn't until Europe figured out how to produce guns and ammo that they ventured out on a true "take over". Get your history straight man. The reason why you don't know your history is because the 10 months out of the year you are in class, 9 of them are devoted to American/European history which you still seem to be clueless about. Instead of b****ing about 1 month out of the year, pay attention during that month. You might learn more things other than Martin Luther King leading the civil rights movement or Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat. It's bad enough that black children are barely learning about the African American experience during this one month due to not having the right tools, resources, and information.

Try being DRAGGED, CHAINED, BEATEN, OBDUCTED, SOLD into a land you didn't ask to venture into. Africa is a land of plenty. You may ask why we don't go back? I can simply state that we have been too westernized, too europeanized... we wouldn't know how to relate or survive on a continent that was once ours. Many Africans shun us like just about every other race on the face of the earth. I am light brown by color but I cannot truly trace my ancestory. NOW TRY HAVING THAT HANG OVER YOUR HEAD.

Stop tripping out and learn more about where people have come from as opposed to where you see them now. Blacks in america have had to resort to too many methods to survive. We are survivors if nothing else.

Hell, in America, you are only different if you look different from someone else. Why is it that all white people are somehow thrown into the giant category of white or caucasian, when black people get the term African American? My ancestors came here way later than the black people who decended from slaves, why dont I get a term like a German American or an Irish American or Scottish American? There will always be that kinda thing going on. I just finished giving a group of 8th graders a tour of the hs, the incoming freshmen. There was some stuff going on and they aren't even in high school yet. It's sad, but it happens...
