I hate it when new players who cannot even play their position try to give you advice on how you should play even though you play a different position. (New middie trying to give advice to an experienced goalie.)

Try to cover up because they don't want to get hurt...
I also hate that...
But I seem to find myself hating people who will run down the field, attempt to roll dodge, but end up just standing(not moving) with their back towards the defensemen, as if they were playing basketball.

haha dude thats so tru...for me, the friggin middies never give up the ball, and when they do, they dont cut...so then i get to X, push crease, perfect pass, bobbled = frustration >> next time down, iso, inside roll multiple fakes right into the pipe = slashing penalty for me right after....what makes me more angry than anything is getting a buddy pass esp. from the guys who cant catch the aforementioned laserlike feeds

1. When one of you captains is horrible.
2. In 6 vs. 3's in practice the attack score a goal on me and celebrate.

4. Kids on my team who don't no how to body a kid.

Calling middie back, and no one stays back, and having to run around in circles looking for an open man or getting it back to goalie and doing the clear again.
Baseball checks. You know the checks where guys take a step back, grip both hends at the bottom of the handle and try to rip you open? I've had that happen twice in one game and had welts in the shapes of sticks on my stomach.
Kids who slash when they can't get the ball from my stick.
Attackmen who stay behind the goal running around incesently. Make a break. You can't score from behind the goal.
Having to stop shoats because the galie is terrible. No joke, I made just about as many stops as the goalie did this season. With my body.

When I am A) Playing a team of newbs or B) On a team of newbs. Im sorry I just can't stand beginners in the high school level....You can either play or you can't. And if you can't....then get off the field and play baseball.
OMG option B is my high school team. I was on JV and we had 4 returning soph. and all the rest freshman.OMG!!!!!! none of the freshman played before except for one kid who was good but he played attack. So we had a god awesome attackline, but absolutely no middies. All of the kids at the end of the season were just learning how to cradle properly, and most of them couldnt drive opposite to save their lives. Also we had like 2 aggresive and big players, but the rest were small. so we won like 3-4 games this season out of about 15!
Which bring me to a nother pet peeve. Defensemen hitting from behind, when your waitng at the midline for a ground ball rolling your way. Thats how i sprained my wrist last year, and was out for about 2 weeks.
Also when all defense men try to do is take the body. I kinda like it thought cuz all i do is throw a headfake and im golden.

longpoles that clear to the endline before looking at wide open attakmen on the opposite side of the field.

when i shoot and it hits the goalies body. gets me so mad
when players dont go to practice all week except the day before a game.
and one of my biggest is when kids who dont play ask if you can hit kids with your stick in lacrosse, and when i say yes, they say they want to play just so they can lay kids out and hit the sh*t out of them with their sitcks.
that last one happens to me all the time, especially from the football players

ITS SO AGGRAVATING

I hate it when your goalie whines about you shooting to close or to hard
when your attack never does anything with the ball
when someone has a great shot and doesn't take it
when your X attackman runs around the crease when he has 3 open middies and then drops the ball.
having to run back to play d when your attack makes a bad pass
people who just pass to get rid of the ball and noones there
when your goalie makes a crappie clear
and when your coach puts you on the 3rd line because they need the best middie on the worst line because he puts all 6 good and decent kids on first and second

I'm gonna correct you there a lil bit, i'm gonna say any lacrosse player who can't take a hit. For example. in practice we were doing some drill were we had to get the ball from other people who had the ball there were people partnered up, then a few just go anywhere and try to get it from anyone, well I was one of them, so there was this defender and I hit him kinda hard and in the whiniest voice you could imagine (almost crying) he said to me "you hit me like that again i'm gonna punch you in the {censored} face" I just walked away from him, I mean come on.
And not that it really has any relavance but I play attack.

When I wear short socks sometimes because I'm just not thinking when I leave for school in the morning, and I run with those with my cleats over them, sometimes those socks will slide off my foot, and I'm now running with a sock that half covers my foot, and I have to take my cleats off to fix my sock. Most of the time I remember to wear or bring long socks though. Yeah it's also pretty annoying when my arm guard slides off. Also, slackers. Just last practice we had to do a lot of sprints and push ups and the coach said to run back to the locker room and that we would be coming right back if he beat anybody running there. Well he beat two of the better players on our team and we ended up having to run all the way back to the field to do more sprints and push ups before we raced him back again.

As an LSM, really slow middies that come of at the speed of a slug when i run my hardest every time.

I'm prolly the only one that wont make a smart remark after somone yells at me. Also I can't stand the fact that half my team thinks they are gangsters. We are an hour outside of Phila and there are farms all around. Pull your pants up, stop trying to rap, and play lacrosse.
-I also am on a line with one kid who is four-foot-nothing (exageration but you get the point) but thinks he can do everything because he netted one goal in the begining of the year.
-and lastly failure to advance calls-get the ball in the box, its not that hard

My current peeve is guys of any skill level who are having a bad gam eand instead of coming out and cooling off to get their heads on straight continue to stay in and further frustrate themselves which goes on to frustrate the rest of the team when their play gets worse and worse. By example I mean when a pole starts swinging away more and more and overpursues leading to getting beat constantly or getting a bad penalty at the wrong time, or guys on O forcing passes into coverage or launching a simple feed downfield/out of bounds. At this point it doesn't matter if they're the best player on the team or not, they don't fully have their heads in the game and they need to let someone else step on the field and try and do what they (at the moment) can't regardless of skill level.

hahahaha thats the greatest. moral of the story put on padding, which leads to my biggest pet peave, when a big stick wears nothign on his arms and trys to run the ball up countless times and complains when he gets wacked
noo wait i lied thats my second biggest pete peeve.
i cant stand it when you make it a hit or something and theres no call or a call someone disagrees with and instead of arguing with the ref they just stick there arms out and put on a timeless expression that asks the question wheres the call. the only thing worse than that is when the ref turns and looks at the idiot and calls a penalty

When you dont have enough sidewall to string your mesh on your head.

You're probably not gonna be so keen to run the ball after that eh? I do it to goalies too. Then when their arms are good and beat up you start taking the ball away.
And after my game yesterday- kids who hit you when you are not even close to having the ball. I was running crossfield to go for a dpole who was trying to clear it, then some big kid runs out of nowhere and hits me when im like 10 feet from the ball and his team has it. It's for the fields. Here, if we play in the rain the field is unusable for a week. So we either don't play or rent some turf at a local college (RPI,Union, Ualbany,Siena)

gettin a good hard stick check on an offensive player, and the ball stays in. Especially when there stick flips over or upside down and they still keep the ball.
when you have good position on a guy, and despite all the checking and pushing you do on him, they still manage to get a shot off, even though you never got beat.
when you stick throws perfectly, and then the next day the shooters are messed up and they create whip and it looks like you have never thrown a lacrosse ball in your life.
my teammate who cries about gettin any type of check on him, but yet when you have the ball, he hacks every where that is a slash.
when that same teammate thinks a slash is when you check his gloves or stick and strip the ball from him.
and when that same teammate tries to start a fight with you in practice when you have about 8 inches and 70-80 pounds on him

not catching a pass drives me crazy. especially if its a poass that i should have scored off of. or an interception. especially missing like a catch on a goalie clear....
as a goalie i second this. i didn't start in college but i had the best clears on my team, and when an ncaa middie or d-pole can't catch a ball i basically put in their stick for them it drives me up a wall.

my school's 'field' is right by a branch of the chicago river, so theres a huge fence maybe 20 ft high to stop balls.
but you see, this fence doesnt help when ripping a shot when the goal is backed up against it, hitting the top post of the goal, while trying to hit the top corner. as you would imagine the ball goes flying 10 ft over the fence. straight into the river.
it was the only ball i brought to school that day...

These are all related since they occur on a restart of play:
1. On a shot the ball goes out of bounds on the end line outside
the "box". An offensive player picks up the ball right behind
the goal and officials start play. This is really bad when a team
is a man down.
2. On a shot the ball goes out bounds sideline. The offense gets
the ball and walks it in 5 yards before play is restarted. Even
worse when a team is man down.
3. Same situation as #2 but the defense gets the ball and the defense
walks it in therefore taking away the side line from the offensive
ride.
4. Free clears with the ball ten yards over the center line.

Tryouts, when you have the perfect tryout, but when the coach walks by, you drop your first pass of the day. Or when there's a new player on the other end of line drills...and you seem to pass to him, or get passes from him, EVERY time.

This is one i hate SO much as a LSM. When its a settled clear and the other team brings the ball up. Our team is running a drop back ride to force the goalie to come up the field. The goalie throws a pass, and you yard-sale the middie, you then proceed to throw a pass to an attackman who is BEHIND the goalie. Instead of running as close as he can and dunking the ball he tries to be awesome and put it top shelf from 8 yards out, AND PUTS IT OVER THE GOAL. He then proceeds to get beat to the endline. GOD I HATE THAT!!! Freakin attackmen!!!

All of mine have probab;y already been said, ive only read the first page.
Missing a goalie clear.
Playing a friend and ending up being too nice to him and letting his team win.
you put your helmet down when you drink water (i never do that anymore) and having your mouthguard get full of dirt.
making the amazing catch on a cut and shooting the ball 10 feet above the goal.
Not having your shooters correct (i once thought i had them right, cut them, and they ended up being wrong and too short to re-do).
doing a trad varient and not having enough x-lace (happened to me with my first two RP's.)
Trying to scoop the ball , messing up, and looking stupid when yu struggle so much, or what FLD said, missing and then stepping on it, which obvously makes you fall down embarrisingly.
screwing up on a fancy shot or pass
cradling and having the ball fall out.
when teammates that just found out lax existed throw you a pass that could score you the winning goal, but instead they trow it so light and innacurate the other team intercepts it easily.
being subbed out in sudden death overtime and your worst player goes straight for the goal and the other team gets it, and ends up scoring when if you had been in, the play wouldv'e been much better and actuallly have resulted in our team winning.

From a goalie standpoint:
Middies, who work 150% on offense, but then walk back on defense.
Attackmen who think helping a goalie on a clear is too much work.
Dpoles who don't tell you their attackmen is sliding to you on a clear. and you get wrecked.
And most annoying, you make that nice big save, and feel lke the man, go for the clear pass and the ball rolls out the back of the lip, and into the goal... that was a good game(10)

My other pet peeve is extra mesh on the end of your head, or "Mesh Mullets" as refered to in the latest issue of IL.

My biggest pet peeves:
1. Me being a goalie: When you take a shot right in into your face mask and your face mask gets bent so bad it is considered "no longer safe" to use (I've been through two CPRO's and two orginal Cascades)
2. When you get shooting strings that aren't long enough for a goalie head
3. Last year being lumped into that whole Duke Scandal as "All lacrosse players are elitess scum". Yes I had plenty of people give me crap b/c I played lacrosse when all that happened (Qutoed from my old boss "All you Lacrosse players are drunk hooligans and I hope those guys get the book thrown at them", another person who thought guilty until proven innocent).

as a goalie..
1. making a save on a kid who rips one from right on top of the crease...then letting that stupid one from 10 yards out
2. when middies dont run back onto defense
3.when anyone tries to tell me that goalie is the easiest position and that all it is is standing there and getting hit with the ball and you have huge fishnet to use
4.when baseball players tell me what i said above and that lacrosse in general isnt that hard and baseball is harder
5. when you get wicked hungry in the middle of a game...so annoying

By far my biggest PET PEEVE is how may damn balls I loose when playing wall ball. I play on a side of a one story building, so I often throw over the roof. I hear it bounce on the other side, and know roughly how it would have bounced, but no matter how hard I look, its gone. Disapears.

-When you play with a stick for 5 games and don't break it and then you let your friend borrow it and you go out and throw and he drops the stick and it breaks... yea it happened...
-When your cup slides around and pinches your cash and prices
-When your at practice your attackman is hanging his stick and right as you go to make him pay for his mistake you dislocate your kneecap AGAIN and sit out the rest of the season
-When last summer you played summer league and nobody else you know played and this summer when you can't play summer league everyone else does.
- When your cleats rip and you don't have the money to buy new ones so you have to tape the old ones up

I suppose I have another pet peeve:
Not ALL Newbies are bad, but it can be annoying when you see a newbie with the newest, shiniest gear that daddy bought for him because he said he wanted to play lacrosse.
This kid's got all the best stuff, and he hasn't/can't even throw(n) a pass, and you don't know if all that gear is going to rot in a garage, or end up on ebay in a week or two.
Once again, there's nothing wrong with newbies; you have to start somewhere--I just think its a little overboard to get a kid the best of the best of everything when you don't know if the kid's going to enjoy and/or commit interest to the sport...Trust me, it can be off-putting.
well said. i hate rich boys who suck. and have everything new. mix that in with a bad attitude and you have a kid on my team who everybody hates.

This has probably been said. But the kid with the multi-colored stick, obnoxiously colored knee socks who can twirl his stick a bit and thinks he's the best player on the east coast. Ends up doing nothing for his team except running around making cuts and sloppy moves that puts him in no better position than he was before. Just get off the field kid. Though hopefully someone plows this fellow before the ten minute mark.

i hate kids who run wierd and mostly the kids i am talking about are the ones who slouch and look like they have a humpback.
i hate kids who are not good at all but they think they are good because they play on a team that all of their first strings are good and win for them.
i hate temas with really fat goalies, that take up most of the goal but actually suck at goalie, but they get stops becuase the kids who cant aim hit him all the time.
i hate bad refs, and refs that like the opposing team alot better, and they call you for a crease violation, when it was most definitely not. It happened to me 3 times this year, and i have videotapes so i for sure know that i wasnt in the crease.
i hate refs who are slow, so if you are on a fast break, it takes them like 2 minutes to get down the field and they cant make good calls becuase of that.
i hate defenseman that suck at defense, but just charge you all day, and the one time he gets lucky and hits you good, he talks trash, but that is the only hit he got in the game.
i hate kids who know that they play with illegal pockets, and the ball will NOT come out of their stick, but they think they are good at stick handling when they are not.
And finally, i hate people who go absolutely crazy after they make a play (especially goalies)

I play attack, and I hate when I draw the double team and dump it off to a fellow attackmen who drops it right next to the crease. It really pisses me off bc I should just use my size to beat the double team. I also hate when before a game, practice, or tryout your mesh or shooters get too lose. You have to retighten them and adapt quickly. I also hate when there is a close game and a kid takes a crappy side arm shot that flys 10 yards to either side of the goal. This year a kid onmy team was a good d-middie but he just had terible stick skills and no shot.

Middies who don't help out on clears drive me crazy.

People who think lacrosse is all about doing fancy stick tricks.
My hair being too longand falling into my eyes as i play and then i cant see until the play moves away and I have to take my glove off and fix it.
Not being able to talk with a mouth guard in.

The worst pet peeve is when your cup goes sideways and you cant fix it because theres girls watching.
That used to happen to me, but then I started to tape my cup in place. At first people were like "what are you doing," but now, they're used to it.

It bugs me so much wen a parent keeps screamin 2 their kid to get the ball. Don't you think he's TRYING to get the ball. Just shut up, you have no idea wat ur talkin about.

I have a net on my goal that has so many holes. 30% of my shots on cage go through a hole. I also hate putting holes in my neighbors fence...

nice thread....
1}definitely when you miss the scoop....
2}when shooting in your back yard and it hits the crossbar and you have no idea where it lands.....
3} when you string the sidewall and then realize you skipped a hole and have to start over
4}people who TRY to cradle.....uhh the worste of them all
