When my elbow pads slide down my arm.
When you string a sidewall and you don't have enough
When coaches tell you to be in to places at once
Non-symmetrical pockets
When you buy a head and it comes with another companies ball stop(like a motive with a warrior ball stop)
mmlaxplaya17

definatly when the pads slide down
when you can never get ur shooters the right way
when you cant scoop the ball and u look like an idiot trying to scoop it
Formerlaxdemon
09-15-2005, 08:24 PM
I'd have to agree with all of the above, and of course the ever-embarassing moment when you are running flat out to scoop a groundball, miss, and then step on the ball and go stumbling forward flailing.

not catching a pass drives me crazy. especially if its a poass that i should have scored off of. or an interception. especially missing like a catch on a goalie clear....
mmlaxplaya17

i ahte when i miss passes but i love it when i make the big 1 handed catches that u have to jump 10 feet in the air and intercept it chsnges the momentum of the game and once i catch something like that i feel like i can do anything like im superman

my school's 'field' is right by a branch of the chicago river, so theres a huge fence maybe 20 ft high to stop balls.
but you see, this fence doesnt help when ripping a shot when the goal is backed up against it, hitting the top post of the goal, while trying to hit the top corner. as you would imagine the ball goes flying 10 ft over the fence. straight into the river.
it was the only ball i brought to school that day...

when I string a stick, then halfway through I relize that I strung something wrong and have to start all over, or when people twirl when they catch, ARGH!, that bugs me soo much, or whne a player shoots but his stick hooks but he still scores because the goalie had no idea his stick hooked, that's annoying aswell

My pet peeve is teammates who are inconsistent. One day, they'll score 4 or 5 goals (which means a few assists for me); the next game, usually against stiffer competition, they won't have ANY game whatsoever. If you think you have game, you need to bring it every game, every time...

Oh God, Yeah... I totally forgot about parents. They do get annoying. In addition to them, I hate the opposing coach that will try and yell at the refs telling them what to do or try and tell us that we were "fouling" his players. I just want to launch my stick at his throat.

1) I hate when you lose so many lacrosse balls.
2) When you give a perfect outlet pass but the player messes the pass up and creates a turn over.
BTW I started playing lacrosse in grade 9 and I was the lacrosse M.V.P. when we had people who had been playing for years. So never doubt the Newbs! :chuckle:
Edit:
3)When your defence does not listen to you even though you have the clear view of the play.
4) When a players tries to kick the ball (when the opposing player is right behind them) away instead of scooping it up. :banghead: :dummy:

D@mn that gets annoying fast...
And yeah, dont blame the newbs. I started playing winter of 9th as middie, switched to goalie halfway through freshamn spring season, did some varsity tourneys over the summer and now the coaches and most of the players want me to play v. next year. Im in 10th now.

When a slide is coming across the crease and the goalie still comes out anyway and the attack just jumps and shoots over him. then I tell him that he doesn't need to come out but he thinks I'm just kidding around
Definatley the thing where like all the middies stay back on a midi-back.
when kids who suck have like $180 sticks but don't even use them right
the serious lack of a lacrosse video game
not being able to find a lax ball and having to resort to a tennis ball
Non-turf fields(my field is turf so when I play on something else it totally screws me up cause I'm used to easy scooping and such)
Playing short stick for a while then switching back to pole and the pole feels heavy as ****
realizing your helmet is loose when you're sprining down the field.
kids who are like "OH MY GOD!!!! WHY ARE YOU CHECKING SOO HARD?!?!???"

I suppose I have another pet peeve:
Not ALL Newbies are bad, but it can be annoying when you see a newbie with the newest, shiniest gear that daddy bought for him because he said he wanted to play lacrosse.
This kid's got all the best stuff, and he hasn't/can't even throw(n) a pass, and you don't know if all that gear is going to rot in a garage, or end up on ebay in a week or two.
Once again, there's nothing wrong with newbies; you have to start somewhere--I just think its a little overboard to get a kid the best of the best of everything when you don't know if the kid's going to enjoy and/or commit interest to the sport...Trust me, it can be off-putting.

losing lacrosse balls
Lazy laxers, especially on clears and defence
definately parents that have NO IDEA what they are talking about. once i was clearing the ball and this was a game against our biggest rivals and our offense wasnt doing ANYTHING. they werent moving, talking, shooting, hustling, let alone scoring. so i run down and just rip a shot from the top of the box. it only missed by a few inches, but then i hear a parent screaming "DONT BE SELFISH!" which imediatly promted my response "WHAT THE **** DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?!!! NO ONE ELSE ON OUR TEAM IS SHOOTING!" and i believe that that was the only shot i took during season because the last thing i am is a selfish person, unlike another one of our poles, but thats a whole nother story

When we had a braveheart at our camp and the camp winner for-my only defense is slashing in the back and shoulder after i get beat cause i tried to lay the big hit-i can't play defense at all-award was up against me and at the face-off all he did was take body cause i am a foot shorter than he is-AAAARGGGGGGGG- i should have anticipated that, he then scoops it one handed- another peeve- and goes down the field and scores on our goalie who only plays goalie and lacrosse because he is really fat(he sucks too)!!!!! It sucked. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

losing lacrosse balls
hitting the pipe and hitting a bypassing car (i live by a busy street so this happens often and i run inside)
same here, it'll like smoke the pipe and then like hit a car on the road when I'm practicing and scare the crap outta me because of the loud noise it makes, once I hit an Escalade, fastest I've ever run, lol.
Watching a lacrosse game on television and the announcers continually compare every move and detail of the game with other sports.

Id say...
-elbow pads sliding down(sucks for us long poles cuasue you attak hack at us bad but thats what we get for killing you guys)
-not knowing your head is broken and you have a crusial pass to make and you screw it up
-when one of your spikes on your cleats comes out
-your coach making you run after a game cuz he thinks your didnt run enough during the game and you win too
-WET pockets
-new refs for a varsity game and you dont have enough refs too

-When you have a great shot on the net, you throw a fake, lose the ball, and still whip your stick like you still have the ball cause you dont notice you lost it.
-When i cut my ankles with my cleats.
-When you are on a fast break straight to the goal and the ref blows the whistle and yells "QUARTER".
-When someone misses a shot, and the only guy to run after the ball is the goalie when you have an attackmen right there to chase, and then the goalie gets the ball back.
-CUP problems......
-Players who run through 3 or 4 people because of their 'need' to score a goal.
-When your mouthguard falls to the ground (especially on the turf) and you get those little black rubber things or grass all in it.
-When you get hacked on the head and the ref doesnt count a slash penalty.
PMRaiderLax6
10-19-2005, 07:12 PM
-Checking the crap out of a guys stick so hard, that even he thinks he lost the ball, and it's still in his stick.
- Doing my job as a LSM and getting the ball back for the offense, and as I'm sprinting off the field to get a short-pole on, we lose the ball and I have to sprint back into the play. I guess it's part of playing the position though.
-When the other guy i'm faceing off against moves a little, making me go, and the ref calls the penalty on me.

1) People who don't ever practice, smoke pot all weekend, and still manage to be great lacrosse players.
2) People who pick up ground balls one-handed and miss.
3) People who think they're above the rules in practice.
4) People who don't run in practice.
5) People who get ejected for arguing with the refs and act like they did nothing wrong.
6) Seniors who aren't very good and pretend like they are superior to freshmen (like me), who are actually better than them.
7) Goalies who give out hospital passes. (Passes to players who are surely going to get laid out as soon as they get the ball. Goalies pass the ball to these people because the player may not have been playing good D and caused the goalie to miss a save.)
8) On a personal note, when I miss passes I should've caught.
9) Kids who beg for playing time, whine cause they don't play a lot, and then get out on the field and go half-*** and don't run.
10) Last but not least, teammates who insist I don't know what I'm doing, when really I'm right.

When you are taking a faceoff and the opponent tries to take the faceoff "left handed" (you are both on the same side), and then you assume the ref is going to call it, so you give up and dont really try. When someone(also in a no-contact indoor league) runs from 15 yards away and nails a kid from behind, sends the kid flying, gets a falg, and then...hhis team goes "oooohhhhh!" and he acts all pumped up, on a dirty, stupid, hit.

When the kids on the team that coach get the ball and then spin the stick for no reason at all. Then, the same kid, knowing full well that I have twice as many years playing as he has living, ignores my direction and loses the ball because a defensemen gets a poke in when he is mid spin, or he sometimes just drops it because he has a nervous habit of stick spinning.

The biggest thing for me is missing that one shot that I know I could've stopped. It kills me to read the shot, know where it's going, but still not stop it.
Another thing that really bothers me is when the attack guys on my team shoot from 3 feet out when we're messing around. They know I'm not wearing pads, that I'm not warmed up, and that they wouldn't get those shots in a game, yet they still take them all the time.

Welcome to my world. Of course what I hate even worse is when that teammate finally does make the pass and I wind up missing the goal (or worse not making the catch first...) or my new personal favorite, forcing every pass on the crease to me with at least 2 d men standing somewhere in my direct area...
I also wonder what the huge deal some of you guys have with the newer palyers to the sport having the newer equipment? It in no way affects your play (especially if you spend more time helping them learn and less time complaining about their lack of skills etc) or wallet. Next time you see the kid with the shiny new stuff who's struggling on the field, rather than make fun of him or start belly-aching, pull him aside and help him with what he's struggling with. Play catch, help him cradle, work on D and footwork, makie hime feel like aprt of the team.

Missing ground balls.
Middies yelling at eachother about who get's to take the Middie-Back.
When a team-mate CRIES when he doesn't get the number he wants. (Yes, this actually happened.)
When defenders are scared of hitting.
When defenders are scared of winding-up shooters. (Jump out of way.)
When refs don't call penalties.
When people can't do tricks like Wobbly Tops or Tornado's they say "What is this, Color Gaurd?" just to cover up the fact that they can't do anything with their stick.
When coaches get a sub for you right when you say to yourself, "Man, I'm gonna win this face-off," etc.
When 10 people are crowded around a groundball and finally when someone picks it up a D-Pole just whacks the frick out of their head. While you're just standing there screaming, "Get back in position!"
Losing LAX balls at practice/parties.
Playing outdoor on a extremely hot day.
Desperate throws/shots.
When people don't catch your perfect throw.
When you don't catch others' perfect throw.
Lazy, selfish attackmen.
Players who go for the man instead of the ball in a face-off.
And I am SICK AND TIRED of people not paying attention in practice and then expect everybody to like them. So, when you talk to them about it they say, "Shut up! You're not the coach!"
And many, many more.

my pet peeve is being stuck in quicksand.. (like from that movie replacements)

When your entire ****ing city doesn't know how to play lacrosse and has no orginization. I mean comon we're in Canada but our teams have 6 or 7 men on the field at a time, everyone goes in whatever position they want and it switches every goal. No orginization whatsoever

i hate when coaches put bad players on power plays. rookies who think they are better then you and dont take your advice seriously... and you have to tell him twice, once before he screws up and once after he messes up! ahhhhhhhhh

one that comes to mind with me, during the season when you hit a mental slump and you dont feel pumped to play.

When DA's try to advance their own political career by throwing a great sport under the bus.

-when i lose all of my lacrosse balls to a horse field that is guarded by an electric fence (i've been shocked twice)
-getting slashed in groundball situations and it doesn't get called
-dmen that wail at your arms all game long

When I dont stop a ball while playing goal.
When the ball falls out when the pocket and mesh isnt right.
Going for a huge check and getting called fro slashing or missing it.
