I haven;'t used one in a game, but I do like the feel somewhat. Aside from that plus, they are incredibly weak, and I can't grasp the point of the CF on the stick, I mean, do either a one piece carbon fiber shaft, or a one piece kpro like they have, not an incredibly weak mix of the two

I used to have one and they did have good feel but they were kind of heavy and kevlar is NOT worth the extra $60. It is also very gimmiky... Just get a regular kpro or something. I traded mine for an i-beam.

Dude the Krypto Pro kevlar is really heavy, but it's strong. Plus it says Hydro Chronic Alloy on it so I have to love it.

for 150 dollars, it blows. for 60 bucks its cool. ebay is your key to hapiness with this one.

is it possible to take the kevlar stuff off it? if so you could basically pick up a kpro on ebay for like 50 bucks

they seem to be everywhere, for really expensive or really cheap.I've used the normal krypto pro and the titan pro kevlar.I wouldn't get it,a titanium shaft or c555 shaft is so much more worth it.

Does it really add that much weight? I've held one, and it really doesn't feel that much different.

No, I've tried the pole ones and they were too heavy for me, also, too gimmicky.

i really really doubt that everybody who voted in the poll actually owns one.
Basically its a black k'pro with better torsional rigidity. Its not worth $150 but if you can get it for cheaper than a regular k'pro its definetly worth it. Come on people, if you've never tried it, don't bash it based on what you've heard. The kevlar doesn't add too much weight, but its noticeable. I really like the grip the kevlar adds.

i agree, the kevlar adds nothing to strength, just makes it more rigid.
one gimmick shaft for another...

im a goalie, got mine for 30 bucks. I think the kevlar has a really nice feel to it. anyone who complains about it being too heavy needs to stop whining and lift some weights cause its pretty light for the price. not worth over $100 though.

wait, so can you actually take the kevlar off, and have a normal kpro?
atacklax
09-26-2005, 07:32 PM
You can take it off and have a weak kpro that would be very thin.

i prefer the kpro...very light weight

i have played with one and i didnt like it at all. the kevlar is worthless its juts like a layer of stuff that if you took it off would bend if u understand what im getting at. for 150 bucks its deffinitly NOT worth it. try 60 or 70.
ebay.

Sorry if this seems like a long time since this thread was alive, but it's only been six days.
Anyway...
I own a KryptoPro, and it has stress fractures (small ones) from checks, from only the 5-game tournament it was used in.
I have some questions about the KryptoPro Kevlar. Price isn't an issue for me so don't say it's too expensive.
1) Is the KProKev just a normal KPro with an additonal layer of Dupont Kevlar, or is it the same thickness as a normal KPro, including the Kevlar layer?
2) Does the Kevlar add to the life span of the KPro shaft significantly? I know how kevlar works, so I think that centred stress points wouldn't be as common.
I do like the weight and feel of the shaft. If it's stronger than the normal KPro, then the "added weight" isn't a problem to me since I have a strong/accurate shot with a 1kg shaft anyway (Old brine shaft I weighted for training).
I held the KProKev in my hands a week before I bought the KPro, so I can't remember much about the thickness.
Also guys, keeping in mind what Kevlar was created for, it's a very expensive material and the price of the KProKev is reasonable considering its incorporation the material.

I was thinking about getting one, but am skeptical about the whole kevlar gimmic. But hey, look on the bright side, if a bullet manages to hit it I think the shaft and I would be alright.

Don't count on it. Kpro kevlars use 3 layers of kevlar while a bulletproof vest uses 20-25

Keep going. Most body armour with Dupont Kevlar have 42 layers. Another form of Kevlar Dupont have created is alot stronger and only needs 8 layers to stop a bullet.
Anyway, on topic, can anyone answer my questions please, or have comments on the way my normal KPro performs?

i've heard mahy times that a k prokev is extremly heavy...and i've played wiht a normal k pro before and thought that was rather heavey to begin with but all in all i'd chop the choise of the shaft down to preference...for instance if ur looking for an extremely strong stick and dont care about weight get a mohawk ti only like 60 buck and near unbreakable if u want grip and strengh and donw care about weight get the mohawk ti and a roll of tape for 2 bucks and ur all set with htat kinda option out there for for that price i'd choise the mohawk over the kev for sheer price if not durability...u can get 2 mohawk ti's for around the pirce of the kev..and like i siad a roll of tape is pretty cheap too...hope this helps and best of luck

i prefer a normal k pro instead of the kevlar because the kevlar isnt that great and it just adds weight

Welcome to the lacrosse forums. Don't try to bring old threads back that much. But this one is fine to bring back.
And my opinion is that it isn't really worth it to pay that much money for it.

i had this shaft for a few months and it was awesome until i smacked it on the ground and it snapped. i'm with the other people who say its not that heavy and if you think it is then eat protein and lift weights.and if this shaft is over 100 then dont buy it
