Minidisc, I'm actually listening to mine right now. I like it.

I have the sports Minidisc and I love it, but I only use it when I run, it doesn't skip, holds more songs than I can listen to in one run. The down side is when I travel I have the MD player and a bunch of MD's.

I have been considering the ipod, but have been told by sales staff at the Mac store that durability with sweat might be quesitonable. If I get the ipod it will probably be for just having alot of portable tunes.

So in answer to your question it just depends on what your are using it for.

get the ipod. I think carrying around a bunch of mini discs would be a pain.

I'd get an MP3 player over a minidisc player....just not an overpriced, overhyped, underwhelming I-pod.

ipod, works on win or mac, get the 20 gb version, lots of hacks you can do, Also, allows for News/Weather.

Its worth every penny, BTW if you do go the ipod route e-mail me.

i'm leaning towards ipod, just because of the massive storage. i like minidisc players cause they're kind of like super cd players, though.

iPods are great but the battery dies after 18 months and you have to send it in to get it replaced because you can't take it out. The Creative Nomad is good too. it is cheaper (270 for 30 gig), runs WMAs, and has a replaceable battery. The downsides are that it's bigger, heavier, and the design isn't as cool. Maybe wait until the next gen of iPod comes out (may not be very soon though).

The battery life thing, has been resolved, and for awhile... actually. check out iPodlounge.com for more info.

WMA is the WORST, i mean WORST, sound file. Whoever made it should be shot. Seriousley, sound on there is abolute crap. The nomad also has a really weird layout. I dont like the scrool/buttons. Also looks wise its butt ugly, but thats more of personal opinion.

But really. .wma = utter ****.

1. How many songs can you store on your MD? And how many Mds do you have to carry around? My thoughts exactly.

2. I like that fact that my shuffle is limited to my entire library of songs, you dont have to change MDs.

Imho, if you dont have the money for it, go the mini iPod(4 gig) That stil gives you alot of CDs. Or see if you can find a 10 gig, on clearance.
I dont see the point of MD as they are not making commercial cds for them, So.... why would you want to rip your cds to your computer, and then put them on a limited size disc. Plus you have to think about what you want to listen too... I think the freedom of a 10,000 song library is a monstrous plus.

I don't like the layout of the Nomad either and i agree its ugly. But it is cheaper and the battery is a plus. Now that they resolved the battery problem i'd get the iPod but maybe check out the Nomad (epecially if you don't have the money for an iPod).
As far as the WMAs go i don't really agree. Half the size and maybe a little worse quality. If I had that many songs I would make that exchange. But I don't and chances are you don't either so iPod is my final answer.
