There was an article (http://www.insidelacrosse.com/page.cfm?pagerid=2&news=fdetail&storyid=99097) on Inside Lacrosse's website today that had excerpts from an interview with NLL commissioner Jim Jennings. One excerpt mentioned that some of the owners in the NLL were interested in starting an outdoor league (by outdoor I'm assuming field, of course) and Jennings said that the proposal would be studied in a committee. IL also said that if NLL were to start an outdoor league it would probably run opposite the indoor season, meaning it would compete with the MLL.

What do you guys think? Does the NLL have the money and capability to found an outdoor league? And if they do, would it flourish or would it go under like the WHA?

Sounds dumb to me, why would u take mostly canadian guys, whose field skills are lacking (Minus a few) and compete with the MLL? WHy not let these guys compete in the Mann/Minto cups in the summer to keep up their indoor skills, just sounds like a dumb idea to me.

Because the league will not just be for the guys that play NLL the will probably take guys from the MLL, this if the league is better and/or pays more that NLL.

I think its a good idea, kinda like minor and major league for baseball. Although I think they should create another box league if possible. but that would probably be too much money/a hassle.

they is no point in having two separate outdoor leagues during the summer unless Jim Jennings is trying to ruin lacrosse this totally reminds me of HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray war that is coming up the fans of lacrosse are the ones that are going to lose big time. and the NLL should have more focus on trying to keep a team in a city for more than a few seasons then trying to start a new league.

And just as this thread popped up, the Mammoth gets an outdoor training facility.

http://denver.bizjournals.com/denve...26/daily24.html

The original 15 soccer and lacrosse practice fields have been increased to 24 fields. The higher number of fields are required for the tournaments Kroenke Sports hopes to attract to Prairie Gateway.

The stadium will be home to Kroenke Sports' Colorado Rapids professional soccer team, which belongs to Major League Soccer. The Rapids also will share the practice fields with Kroenke's Colorado Mammoth pro lacrosse squad as well as youth soccer and lacrosse teams. The Mammoth are part of the National Lacrosse League.

I personally think NLL is in no financial shape to create another league. Remember how NL2 went down in flames a few years ago?
