Alright I have no idea how to start a post so i need a few peoples feedback. My team ordered STX gladiators for team gloves last year. They were awful everyones palms ripped out but a personal concern for me were the damn thumbs. It happened to many times last year where during practice or games I'd block a shot right off the thumb. I mean they were good saves but it's not fun spending the rest of the game with a thumb in pain and having it throb with blood. I was wondering what are some good goalie gloves. I think next year my team's ordering Brine defts as a team set. they dont sound too bad. I'm highly desperate for a good pair that won't lead to broken thumbs like my previous season. Did you get the goalie version? If not, thats the problem. If you did get the goalie version and you still injure your thumb, tape the thumbs, helps alot.

howd you get a hurt thumb, they have a freaking metal plate in the thumbs. if you got hit with say, superfreak goalies on, youd be dead. And i find the glad palms are extremely durable and thick

I got mine free--I've been umpiring baseball for about 15 years. I just use the hardest and most padded one--the umpires wear. They should be cheap--check out ebay or eastbay closeouts. But yeah, I've always used a baseball chest protector.

I use a money. I wouldn't say they're sick, but I like mine.

They feel really unbalanced, like all the weight is on the top of the head. But the sidewall holes are great, if you have one you know what i mean.

A kid I met at Pilat played with one and said he absolutely loved it. It's probably worth buying one, they can't be that expensive anymore. But I could be wrong.

1 guardian with soft mesh (closed sidewall) thats constantly put on different shafts.

Who put what out? I haven't even heard of any new gear out yet. I did hear rumor last year of Warrior or Cascade (can't remember) making a helmet w/ a built on throat guard, I guess modeled after a hockey goalie's helmet, but I haven't heard anything since then.

No not at all. Over time it got a harder, and now it throws like a dream. In the begining it had whip, but it broke in. Soft mesh has a lot of whip rumors, but i personally like it.

I personally hate the Money. I don't really have any specific complaints, it's just the feel of playing with it. As for the x-treme, it was the first stick I ever used, courtesy of my school. I got along with it, and it got along with me. Unfortunatly for it, I then discovered the Nemesis and broke off our relationship. :chuckle:

any goalie gloves thumb protection can be increased by taping the thumb. doc schneider does it for his defts, and i do it for the top hand of my glads, since they suck.

In terms of goalie stuff, definetly. Best head ever: Eclipse. Third best head ever, Goalmaster. (Nemesis is second, imo) Also, Glad/I2 goalies=hawt, and I loved the genesis/aegis chest protectors, as well as the glad chest protector. Plus, their like the only company to come out with two goalie specific shafts: Contender and Throttle.

and i use team g force goalies i use during varsity season (i hate them broke both thumbs and had surgery on the left after this season to scrape the scar tissue and put a pin along the phalanx)
and during summer and fall i use a old pair of l33ks
i wear a cpx ti during the varsity season (again i despise it)
and during summer and fall i use my 3 year old cpro ti (greatest helmet ever)
i wear red and black checkered carbon fiber knee brace for my torn pcl on my left knee

Old STX.....new ones w/ rounded heads stink...also i use a long pole.....about chin high off the gound. w/ head attached..my advice as a former D 1- AA..is try and use as long a pole as you can handle....for the reasons....picking off passes, clamping further out of the crease, checking attackman, getting GB's and more shaft save......get a d pole and cut it to chin length just like a hockey stick...good luck

My son uses the new Maverik Dynasty chest protector and he can't believe how good it is. The back of the CP has a jersey type material instead of straps and is the most comfortable he has ever used. i used UA griddles, they did work nice, the padding was light. it only padded the lower thigh though, not the upper around the cup. it also had hip padding. the cup pocket was nice too. instead or wearing compression shorts, a jock, cup, goalie pants, then shorts, its all in one package.
