See:

The main change seems to be that they now have boundaries on the field!

Apparently this is a BIG deal in women's lacrosse, with the purists up in arms. Roughly the equivalent of allowing plastic heads for crosses or a shot clock.

Check out the Woman's forum and you will see there is quite a varied opinion regarding this change. Appears mostly positive. It is a big deal and I for one am looking foward to the discussion at the Convention on the subject.

There's been a lot of talk in the Women's Forum thread on this topic about whether or not refs are actually going to make the call about crosse to body contact. What about the refs here? How will you all make the call? Is it really going to be absolutly 100% NO contact? I'll be intrested to see how the refs around here call it at my first fallball game Saturday.

I would never call it in a women's game, but that's just because I don't officiate women's lacrosse. I'd consider it, but I don't even have time to do as many men's games as they want me to do!

my daughter plays women's lacrosse, and I would never consider reffing that game, it is very different than men's lacrosse, the rules are very hard to follow. Half the things men players to do are penalties in women's lacrosse, such as getting in the way of shots, checking, even shooting too hard is a penalty I think.

I do womans games, and will call it the way they tell us to at the convention and the rules meeting at the State Level. If no contact means absolutly no contact then there will be many more pushing and offensive charging calls next year.
Article in US Lacrosse hits the highlights for the new rules.
Got some games this weekend we will see.
Actually, with training, it really is agreat game of officiate!
