Hello.
I want to tape some of my games so I can send them away to colleges. Since im a longpole, what can I focus on? Not alot of action happens that make me individually stand out. What do college coaches look for in a longpole? Thanks

I would reccomend taping games and then edit them with the big highlights, and if nothing big happens, make something big happen

College coaches look for very athletic longpoles with good stick handling skills. Ones that hit hard and get ground balls

Don't send a highlight tape, college coaches would rather see entire games focused on you so that they can see how you react in certain situations, not just an awesome takeaway or something.

entire game tapes make more sense but i dont think that they will have enough time to watch a couple games

they dont, they fast forward and watch the bits they want. whole games let them see how complete *your* game is

a coach told me to give him a video that started with 1 or 2 minutes of highlights so they can tell if they should even be watching. then give them an entire game from a high angle (press box or highest row of the bleachers) so they can see as much field as possible. besides the obvious things like gbs and good slides, they want to see if you hustle around the field and how you act when the ball is away from you.

i hadnt heard that before, but its sounds like a really good idea. i'd make 2 minutes a MAX amount of hilights.

for the highlights, would it be better to go close to the 2 minute max or would less be better? like what would be an optimum time length?

i guess it depends how indepth time you give like building up to what your showing......if i make one i think ill include like 3 sweet take aways, some great stick skills to get out of sticky situations & maybe myself scoring.....but what im wondering is what do yall use to put this together???& how do you record???is it like a digital recorder like a digital camera where you take the card out then put it in the comput & you have something you can use to eidt the film?

yeah, try not to be your own scout, or make it seem like your more focused on becoming a director than a top notch lax player. every college has a specific set of skills they look for in a player, and they wanna be the one to assess every aspect of every player they see.

and good luck to ya, hope ya do well

usually a team parent will film the games, for the players recruiting purposes.

my dad was asked to film some of my games for other players on my team, it was mostly just watching that one player the whole game, he would sit up as high as possible but dont stay fully zoomed out, and tape the whole game even when the attack have the ball, stay medium to close zoomed in when the ball is in your end and medium to far when its not for gbs or if your team looses the ball and you pick up on ur man going to get the loosie, hope all this input from everyone help u make a good vid, post it up on here when your done
