I'm writing an essay for school and need some information.

Do you guys think Van Halen was better with David Lee Roth as thier Singer or Sammy Hagar?

Thanks for the info!

I would go with DLR, but that is only because they were SO huge when he was the frontman. The first thing I think about when I hear VH is 1984, but that's just my 2 cents. (I wouldn't consider myself a massive VH fan, although they are decent)

DLR had the charisma...and the ego, but I like Hagar's voice a lot better, and my favorite Van Halen songs are from the Hagar era w/the exception of a few classics from the DLR times.

David Lee Roth IS Van Halen's front man, no exceptions. Sammy Hagar kept them going after he left, but there's no replacing David Lee Roth; he completed Van Halen.

Hagar is a far better singer than David Lee Roth. Add the fact that he's a very competent guitar player, which adds to VH's live show big time.

That said, David Lee Roth was a better Rock and Roll Frontman than Hagar and most of VH's biggest hits were with Van Halen, not Van Hagar.

I'm split.

Not a big fan of the band, but my friend's uncle is Eddie Van Halen.

Sammy Hagar hits on 8 year old boys.

Personally, Roth was 10x better frontman than Hagar. Just so much more stage personality.
