Anyone here who watched the game, do you agree that Johnny Damon's check swing absolutely called for an appeal?
I think he went, personally, but that doesnt change the fact that it totally called for an appeal.
Man...we were 6 feet (papi's flyout to the track with 2 on) and a marginal call (the one i just mentioned) from being right back in this.
Aw jeez.

Yeah, being a Red Sox fan, I too am disappointed. That was a pretty close call on that swing. I can't believe they lost! Aaaaaargh my heart is torn in two, and the world is dead to me! :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

there are a couple yanks fans at my school that i've come awful close to flippin out at, too.
its tough to explain to someone who doesnt follow a team extremely closely, but they sort of become a part of you (as horribly cheesy as that sounds), n you just get downright mad when they let ya down.
and your signature is one of the best i've ever seen. high five.

Did they lose because of this call?
not necesarily, but had the call gone the other way, it would've been a 1 run game instead of a 2 run game.
but, there would've been bases loaded and 2 outs for the best part of the red sox lineup if the call was made correctly, so their chances of getting another run would've been great.
there are alot of scenarios that could've unfolded if the call went the other way, i'm too drained to go over all of them right now lol..

He went. I know it's hard to admit it, but Damon went around. Not to mention the two other chances they had. They played like garbage, you can't win when you play like crap.

Front runners, everyone ('cept me) these days fell in love with the stinkin' red sox, so what they one a title, whoopdie-friggen-doo, cubs havent one for 118 years or somthing. I guarantee if they ever win all you so called "die-hard bo-sox fans" will all jump on the cubbie ban wagan. Pick the team from around where you live not some team just because they won one year and "the curse" is over, please. Thankyou

Dude, I can't stand it when people question how big of fans other people are. If they are fans then they are fans. You are no better for liking the team for longer.
I am a Yankee fan because my friends are and I hear all this crap about "OMG YOU LIKE THEM 'CAUSE YOU'RE A LOSER"

Man Boston sure blew it this year! One down only the Yanks to go.
 Maybe a team won't just buy themselves a championship this year.

White Sox actually have a long drought going too. Now that the other Sox have ended their drought (by winning four straight over the Yankees after choking on the first three even!), I'd be happy to see the Chi-Sox do it this year.
Ultimately, I don't even really care. Baseball is a last-resort sport for me these days. Last year's MLB playoffs represented more baseball than I watched in the past decade.
This year, hockey's back!

i'm not debating that he didn't go, he almost definitely did. but it was certainly too close for the home plate umpire to make the call.
and secondly i think the (red)sox played alright...though the white sox clearly, indisputably, played head and shoulders above them

uuhh...i've been following the sox for as long as i've been following baseball. it took some real effort for me to hold back the tears when aaron boone hit that ball over the left field wall in 2003.
so iunno if you're adressing this to someone in particular or everyone, but just because someone's team happened to win a world series a year before doesn't mean that that's the reason they follow them.

Except, he did make the right call, so it doesn't matter. The sox lost. Face it. Would you have rather wanted a 3rd base or 1st base umpire to call it, and they would have made the right call too? Or would you have wanted it to have them make the wrong call and have the sox cheat themselves into winning a game? BUT it would have only scored one run, so they would have lost anyway.
What's your point here?

Dude - I'll give you that the Leafs are going to be fairly pathetic this year. If they even make the playoffs, I'm thinking first round exit, or at best second round appearance before being swept out.
However, you're too young to remember the Leafs when they were REEAAAALLLYY bad.
There was this stretch through most of the 80s that I'd prefer to forget ever happened.

grrrr, stupid tigers. i wasn't even alive in 1984 and i still hate you guys. i'm a die hard fan of the most laughed at team in baseball right now, the padres. can't wait for the game tonight just hope it isn't a repeat of the 1st playoff game i ever went to- cards swept pads in 96 division series

nah the most laughed at team is the mets, they try to win teh championships by buying em and fail more miserably each year. On another side note GO YANKS! and on another Damon went, but i dont think the red sox coulda pulled off another miracle this year, regardless of the games outocme. Their pitching was a complete disaster, from starters to the pen and closer.

i actually made a myspace group where bandwagon red sox fans can go so they leave the red sox forum. its called the red sox bandwagon fan base (i realized that it makes me look like a proud bandwagoner, even though ive been a sox fan most of my life, after i already made it)
point being, i hate bandwagon fans because they like the team to be popular instead of actually liking the team.
