It is almost lax season and we are beggining to undergro conditioning. Do any of you know any good excercises that help build up endurance and also speed?

Yeah, run a lot. That's endurance. Run faster. That's speed. ::tongue in cheek:: If you want to imrpove your speed, look into a book on what's called plyometrics, I think Donald Chu wrote a good one.
For lacrosse specifically, pyramid sprints/ladder running/Indian sprints/intervals, whatever you call it, where you jog for a few minutes and then sprint for a fractin of that time and alternate back and forth for any length of time, for example, you can jog for 4 minutes and sprint for 1, and do that 4 times, and that's 20 minutes (no duh).

sounds good. I actually saw ladder running on NHL SPOTLIGHT and thats what most of the defensemen do to get faster when they're on breaks

start out by getting JV in the middle of the field, and the V on the sidelines. Now put all the balls in the center with the JV. Have varsity start running laps around the field. Allow the JV to start "attempting" to peg the V players. V players must run their rumps off while trying to intercept the shots...cus if they dont coach takes a nice crack at em.

our team is conditioning right now. we do a lot (usually a mile) of the jog then sprint stuff. sometimes we jog the curves & sprint the straightways (on the track) and other times we jog & sprint when the coach blows the whistle. running stairs should help you, too. we're also doing lunges, crunches, squats, pushups, etc. it wouldn't hurt to go on a 3-4 mile jog, even if you have to go slow. that should help, i think?

To me, an indian sprint is when your teammates get into a straight line and start jogging. The guy in back sprints to the front. Then the next guy sprints to the front. And so on. Until the coach is tired of watching. That's what I usually mean when I use that phrase.
Pyramid sprints, when I use the phrase, is just another name for alternating job/sprints.

that is not our full workout. we go on long runs after that, along with stairs, suicides, etc.
it's the beginning of the season, too. we aren't all in tip-top shape yet.
