alright so i searched, didn't find anything, and i don't know where this goes, maybe in stick doctor. but anyways, i've never seen any long poles use traditional stringing (or pita, RP, or whatever) in their pockets. can anyone tell me why?

it doesnt catch very well, and bein a d-pole u need to snag passes out of the air as well as cradle up and down the field, which is hard to do in a leather based pocket

few players at any position use trad today. ive used trad long poles since i was given my first long pole in the spring of 1982. i still use them today. i dont believe a word of what scooter is selling about hold. no problems whatsoever with hold for me. the problem is that no one wants to take the time to do trad right, when they can do mesh in 15 minutes or less.

I started out d pole with an X2 on trad and it sucked, (thank you QC Lax) initally I knew nothing about lacrosse and the importance of a good pocket. And before I could even form a pocket on my trad it just fell apart. I did not know you had to maintain it. It was very stiff, no pocket, and almost no hold. It was great for throwing, very accurate and fast release, but as a d pole I'd sacarfice a fast release and accuracy for hold and ball control because ground balls are the most important thing and clearing it is secondary. Well clearing after ground ball that is.

:WTF:???

Properly done trad has better hold than mesh. It also has more give for better catching.
Trad is somewhat better than mesh in every way except weather resistance. The reasons for using mesh is that you can get 95% of the benefits of trad with only 10% of the headache.

if you can do trad right, and take the time to maintaing it, its just as good if not better than mesh. but its also a more position specific pocket, most shooters like a lot of whip which is easily atainable with traditional.
