Im sitting here watching the Red Wings pregame waiting for the Wings and Oilers to start. If Wings win they will surpass the 93 Penguins by 1 point for the best start in NHL history. Is anyone surprised by this?
Never mind Wings lost in OT and tied the record, in the game that I am watching right now(which Wings are also losing 3-1 against Phoenix of all people), Osgood went to pass the puck to Shannahan but the puck went high and Shannahan tried to knock it down and missed, then the announcer said " Shannahan couldnt get that with his Lacrosse style"

I am surprised at the fact that a team that everyone said was only good because of money can get a salary cap, move some guys around, and still have a fantastic team. I also would like to add that the only team they have lost to are my Vancouver Canucks

Just curious - What does "best start" even mean as far as the 93 Penguins are concerned. Long unbeaten streak? Most points over first X games?
(Please note that a lot of comparisons with old records are junk.....once upon a time you didn't get a point for an OTL, and not every game had a two point winner.
I do know that a recent Leaf team (93-94?) opened the season with ten straight wins, and I know that's a record. Since that involved winning ten real hockey games in a row, NO SHOOTOUT WINS!!!, I'm going to argue that that's the best start ever.

So, Wings-Senators in the final??
The Wings got rid of a lot of their old, overpriced deadweight and look fantastic as a result.
The Senators have been hugely talented the last several years, and I think they finally got the toughness, goaltending and coaching they need to take them deep into the playoffs.

Go Canes! (loyal fan since 97) They are off to a great start. With Eric Staal leading the way, if he keeps scoring at this pace he will have 164 points! We will see when the hurricanes play the red wings Jan. 10 at 7:00 pm, it will be on OLN so everyone here can watch it.(dare i say it?..... a preview of the stanley cup finals)

*sniff* *sniff* What's that I smell? A cup perhaps? A cup by the name of Stanley?
Oh and I love all the country wide support for the Wings, We are like the Dallas Cowboys of the NHL, everybody loves us. I must say though, I've been a fan since before the days of Vernon and early Osgood. Cheveldae anybody?
