i got a new head(bionic)....i strung it with hard mesh and unfortuately hard mesh take forever to break in. Does anybody know any good method to use the break in a hard mesh pocket. (ex. pocket screw, butternife trick, just playinging in the backyard) what can i do to get my pocket broken in fast.

i think you just named them. those are the most common tricks, but you could stick the mesh in warm/hot water then beat the heck out of it on the wall. whatever you do, just dont leaveit in your locker and forget about it until a game, keep working on it.

yeah, thats kinda what they are meant for.
i recommend doing the butterknife trick, then put the whole head in your sink as you fill it with luke-warm water. leave it in there overnight. play catch the next day while the mesh is wet, then do the butterknife thing again at a different location.

i did this before and it seemed to work, take the mesh and stretch it out for a little, then fill up a sink or whatever with hot water, then add some fabric softener, and let soak for a lil, then take it out, stretch a lil more, string it up and pound the heck out of hit, and butter knife trick it the nite, and your set.

take a shower with it first you put the mesh where the water falls and you don't get in yet put the water on as high as it goes let sit for a minute turn water down to where you take a shower shampoo condition....do it again make sure to rub had multiple times then rinse

does putting the head in water mess up a ball stop?
LatinBabe

no. the ballstop is just foam. the only possible problem is if you put it in boiling water, then the foam melts. but just putting it in warm or even hot water doesnt do a thing.

the foam doesn't melt, the adhesive does.

the foam shrinks too.

so will the adhesive become weaker in water?

foam melts in boiling water...or should i say it burn away and the adhesive melts? just the same, boiling water screws it up.
but if your not going to use super-hot to boiling water, your foam will be ok. i say super-hot water to keep it from shrinking, thnx livin4lax, forgot to mention that the first time.

depends on what kinda, how hot the water is, and how long the foam is in contact with the water...but yes...most of them do.

it sounds hokie, but I bought a pocket pounder and so far, it's worth every cent. I've used it to break in 5 pockets and it works great. Pound the pocket, throw, pound, throw,...

how do you use those pocket pounders? Do you put the head upside down?

I put the top of the head on my thigh and either pound or press the ball into the pocket repeatedly. It works really well.

I just play all the time, and beat the mesh in the head on a round metal fencestop.
