This question is not easy to answer until we see final versions of the NFHS and NCAA rules, but what differences do we expect to have between the NFHS and NCAA mechanics for 2006?
The biggest one from last year, the 10-second count vs. the 20-second timer on clears, appears to be gone. There will be some differences on the faceoff (stick position, saying "set" or not). What else do we expect to see?

I would still like to see a NFHS mechanics manual - some type of manual that is more detailed than the zlax mechanics manual.

The short-term plan is to have an NFHS supplement to the COC mechanics manual. Long-term, we (the scholastic officials committee) may be able to put together a stand-alone document.

I would love to see such a document, this would allow for more uniformity from official to official. It would also be beneficial for new officials. I have not been able to think of any real mechanic changes other than the 20 second count. I'm not sure as I haven't really thought about it. Did you have somthing in mind? Do tell.

Help me out here a little, the rust starts to set in during the off-season...there are PLENTY of rules differences between NCAA and NFHS rules, that much is clear, but what "mechanics" differences are we talking about, really? Are there enough to require a totally separate mechanics manual? Now rules differences are one thing, but do we need a whole NEW book to study? Would a supplement suffice? Just asking...
I would think a brief supplement to the NCAA/COC college mechanics manual would suffice for hs games where 3-man games area done (Philly area has lots of refs). Those of us on the frontier where two-man hs games are the norm might need a slightly expanded "manual" than is found on the zlax site.

I agree. I also do not need a whole different manual but I'd like to see somtihng more detailed than what zlax has.
