ive heard from some people that these shoulder pads, The Adams shoulder pad liners are illegal for HS ball, is this true, because ive been using them since june after my hitmans broke. id like to know so i can get new pads for the season

WOW they are skimpy the description doesnt tell it just says college play just have to wait for laxref

They're legal for both high school and college. Not too sure about youth though. I used SP Liners from brine (same thing basically) my entire playing career. If you don't mind lacking protection (I was a pretty big guy back in the day) then you'll love them.

The rules on shoulder pads are amazingly vague. You have to wear shoulder pads, and they can't be altered. For NFHS rules, you can't use football shoulder pads. In some sense, it is up to the official to determine what constitutes "shoulder pads." We're not supposed to go looking for trouble, though: if I feel a pad on the shoulder through the jersey, I'm not flaggin it.
Personally, I think those pads look a little skimpy.

The mechanic we use in Vermont is a tap on the colar bone and a tap halfway down the deltoid (large muscle over the shoulder). If I feel a pad under my hand tapping the player (and it's not a footbal pad) he's all set. This was a real hot topic around here last year.

I used to use the old Brine foam pads too, and these look like even less. As LR says, the rules on what constitutes shoulder pads are not very specific. do shoulder pad liners count? In my games they do. The only real rule is you can't alter the pads.

If there was a rule that forced me to wear pads, I think I'd try to find something that actually offered a bit of protection. Not even so much for the shoulders, but for the sternum.
To each their own though. If you want to prove you're tough by wearing minimalist equipment, that's fine. If I'm your teammate or coach, though, I better not hear you crying about anything short of a broken bone!

the reason i got these is because the velcro straps on my old ones broke, so i needed new ones. I wanted the spartan cores, but brine isnt shipping any old ones, they are waiting for the 06 ones to come out, i was just wondering in the mean time

you must be pretty tough to wear those, i would just get like cheap stx exos or something that might acutally salvage some of your shoulders by the time your 50

firstly, i play d so i dont get hacked a lot, secondly, they are redesigned so that they provide more protection on the top of the shoulder. Thirdly, they were 15 dollars. I try to buy all my equipment cheap. My SP were 15, my EP were 8, my iggies i got used for 25, along with a razer for 25. the most expensive items are my riddell TI at 125, the harrow at 140, and my cascade at 140, i try to keep it cheap on a parttime job

i like rhinoskin other than the fact that the padding breaks down. no refs have ever asked if i was wearing pads, and the padding is superlight and can barely feel it. it is spendy though.

The sholder pads are legal, and i guess its ok for defense, but personally when i look for sps i look for sternum protection cuz i really don't want to die. Also i would really read about spenny, that guy changed how i thought about sholder pads.
