Ive been having trouble with my off-side high saves lately...Its odd. Instead of just bringing the stick over my face like usual, im pretty much doing a hyper-extended off-side hip save...
Is this a common problem? Does anyone have any tips to get me back to proper formation?

i've had kind of like the opposite problem...for mid-low offsides i would try to wrap my stick around over instead of under...imo it's common, it's just the quickest reaction and u just go for it. I had ppl shoot on me in that spot back to back until i would save them. After i saved a lot of them i would hav them shoot mid-low so u can save it the way u r now (hip save under.) This creates muscle memory for u, so in the future wen u see those shots u thnk ok let me go over or ok let me go under. i hope this helps

I think that happens with me too, like you are unsure of which way to go, over or under?
I would spend that split second questioning my judgement on which way to go, and lose the reflexive action that I make many of my saves with. I especially have trouble when the shot if off-stick, and the shotter wisely changed planes, so it is difficult to judge where the ball is going. I have been doing what Trilax suggested, and haveing my friend shoot all off-stick, so I can get used to judging where the ball will end up.

It is a common problem (not huge), but atleast you're on the right side of the fence. That's a much better problem than coming over the top for low saves.
To work on this we've done a few things, and it relates to your stance. What worked best was to put you on your knees (with a an attack shaft/goalie head), and work it that way.
If your form is already solid (ball, thumb, eye), its natural. If you play differently, I'd suggest focusing in stepping hard to the ball. End up a yard further than where you started. With some people the extra aggressiveness will bring out the best reaction.
Good Luck!
