i was scooping the ball in front of the opposing teams goal, about 2 yards from the crease, and as i was scooping the ball, i got pushed from behiend...when i was pushed the ball came out of my stick and went in the goal...after the ball went in the goal i fell into the crease. The ref said no goal because i was in the crease...but i think it should have counted because i wasnt in the crease until after the goal.

so my question is should that have counted as a goal or not.

"after the ball went in the goal i fell into the crease."

Somehow i don't think a High school (which I'm assuming) ref wouldn't know that it doesn't matter if you get pushed into the crease after the ball is in the net (give em a little more credit than that :nahya:). You're positive that you kept both feet out of the crease when you shot?

It's entirely possible that you stepped on the crease line before the ball went in the goal, then fell in the crease afterward. We didn't see it, so we'll never know. However, if you didn't touch any part of the crease until after the ball went in it should be a goal (provided you didn't deliberately dive).

Without getting into the specifics of your play, the pertinent rulings would be;
if the ball went in the goal before you entered or touched the crease circle (without you initiating a dive or jump) the goal is good. If the defender pushed you, the penalty is waived by the goal. If it was more severe and the ref calls an illegal bodycheck, goal is good and the defender will have a 1 min. penance. If the goal was waved off by entering the crease, penalties would be served in both cases.
If you dive or jump, no goal, no matter if the ball goes in before you enter the crease.

ive also had a smimlar situation, but i found out that if you ask the ref his reasoning and if you did step in the crease before, theyre usualy more than happy to tell you why he blew the whistle.

Here is a hypothetical twist on this play: If the ball was not in your possession? ("as i was scooping the ball, i got pushed from behiend...when i was pushed the ball came out of my stick and went in the goal") If the ball was not in your possession, possibly a loose ball push - which was too close to the crease to call a play-on. Whistle the play dead and give the ball to the offense????

i was always under the impression that play on really mean the ref is not dure who to call a push on, so he just says palyon

That is a mistaken impression. The ref is calling Play On to allow the disadvantaged team an opportunity to pick up the ball and continue a fast brreak opportunity or just play cleanly. As soon as it is apparent that the disadvantaged team cannot do so, the ref whistles the play dead and awards them the ball with a 5 yd free zone. That is why in my games, if the disadvantaged player is starting to scoop the ball in a play-on situation but his stick is then checked and he loses the ball - I will whistle it dead and give that player the ball with 5 yards. To do otherwise compounds the disadvantage, since if the whistle was blown as soon as the foul occured he would have a free play; i.e. possession with a 5 yd free area around him.

A way to think of "Play On" is that the WORST result of an infraction against the disadvantaged team/player is that they get a clean re-start with possession and everyone 5 yards away, etc.

1st: that probably should have been a goal
2nd: the ref probably could not ref really well
