I've seen the Pilat video and some other approaches, just curious as to what approaches you other goalies take to stopping one on ones or breakaways.
Do you hang back in the cage and wait for the shot to come? Do you charge out to try to force a bad shot? Do you bait the shooter? Do you overplay one side of the cage?

I would make myself look bigand just stand up at the top of the crease where the shooter is coming from.

i love when goalies do that, then u can run up on them hard n get em on their heels. When you see a goalie on his heals, you own him

For one one ones, its all about the angle. Getting your stick there on time is near impossible (or your really good), so try to cut off as much angle, and follow the shooters head with your head

Normally I try step out and force a bad shot on one on ones. I make an attempt to match stick for stick and jab the attackmen right in the stomach. Too often though the shooter justs picks a corner. I think that its much better to hang back in most situation and wait it out. I tried it once or twice and it really helps. Let a d-man check the guy and focus on the ball. (At least this is what I have read and heard from many different coaches and goalies)
As for one on ones it definitely is your style of play. I use a relatively flat arc so I just han bakc play my angles, bait the shooter a little and watch for the shot to come
