Yay or nay?
My dad takes it, he says it improves muscle recovery time and halps build lean muscle mass. Only down-side is that I have to drink more water to prevent kidney stones.
But its like cuts soreness in half and getsd you lean muscle faster, I figure one serving before practice everyday would be good. Yay or nay?

you're thinking of steroids. creatine is naturally found in the body, and it makes just enough for us to live. however, when you put the artificial stuff into our body, we stop making it. when you get off it, guess what happens to all your hard earned muscle..... poof. nay.

creatine is basically legal doses of steroids. yes it helps when u lift and recover, but its not worth it. if you do take it, you have to gradually increase, then gradually decrease so your body adapts to it. but definitely not worth it. you are better off doing everything naturally. just find a good workout routine and stay dedicated to it. being sore is the payoff of a good workout. if you arent sore the next day, you didnt work out hard enough.

Some counterpoints:

- When you quit creatine the muscle does not disappear in any way, what disappears is the extra water that your muscles retain while on creatine, hence you lose some of the weight that you put on.

- It's common practice when taking creating to cycle it to maintain natural production. 3 months on, 1 month off is about right.

- It does not "shrink ur nuts up like a raisin";you are thinking of steroids.

- Drinking more water isnt a bad thing, infact with or without creatine it helps promote fat loss and lean muscle gain as well as being generally healthy.

There's nothing proven wrong with creatine, and it has great results for some people so long as they get enough water and take it with some sort of sugar so you don't just piss it right out. As with any supplement or dietary change, research should be done before taking it. What I recommend to promote muscle growth is Whey Protein (in addition to a healthy diet, 19*weight in lbs. should be your calorie intake), a proper workout routine (remember, sometimes less is more), and getting enough sleep.

Creatine is not a steroid in any form. Creatine is an amino acid; steriods are hormones, huge difference. If you take it, drink a lot of water - cramping is one of the consistenly-mentioned side effects.

But if I were you, I still wouldn't take it: eat smarter & save your money.

Nay. That stuff is crap. There isn't any solid proof of the long-term effects of creatine. I wouldn't use it. (But then again, I'm a girl and have no desire to bulk up.....)

I had the same desire to take creatine then talked about it with my friend (who is totally ripped). Taking creatine builds muscle, yes, but it also retains water in your muscles, making you bigger, but slower. This water in your muscles leads to constant cramping, and adverse side affects on the kidneys have been proven. My friend recommended whey protein, much safer and well known. And creatine without enough water does lead to kidney stones WHICH YOU DO NOT WANT! I had a kidney stone once :angry :cry :banghead :dummy :cussing and the pain is indescribable ( but here's how i put it): imagine somebody diggin into your side with a red hot fork, and then trying to shove a cinder block through your kidney tubes. My doctor told me they hurt more than a gunshot wound, so I'm pretty impressed with myself. I went to the hospital 3 times, the pain is so unbearable that you vomit constantly, i was put on morphine and that didn't help much, they gave me painkillers and I threw them up until I pissed the mother fker out (which I didn't feel), but if they're too big.......... then they stick a tube up your trouser snake and suck it out which can lead to scarring
^all because I didn't drink water during practice (but creatine leads to them too)

creatine is not a steroid. I dont think you will notice anydifference for playing lacrosse, for bodybuilding it is one of the better products around. It safe and it works. I also dont think it is nessesary to cycle it as your body's natural production seems to stay the same. Also when you stop using it you will lose some weight but that is just water that was being held in your muscles.
