This is coming from a wlax point of view, but I assume it holds true in mlax as well.
Basically, you want to make them as believable as possible but at the same time you don't want the fake to be too complicated. Having a fake that's too complicated increases the amount of time it takes to do the fake, thus giving you away. So keep them short and sweet, just enough to throw everyone off. My best advice would be practice my friend...

ok.. keep your stick verticle.. like you are going to pass, have as loose a grip pressure you can on your bottom hand, then just turn your top hand as you push the stick slightly forward.

Yup.
If it helps, you can think of it almost like an overexaggerated 2-hand cradle.

with the amount of whip i have on my attack head, i can throw some sick fakes. basically i go like i'm going to shoot/throw the ball and slide my left hand (it's low usually) away from my body a little (to make it vertical) and spin the head around so it doesnt come out

Just a small twist of your wrist like wheel said, so you can keep your stick in shooting position. You throw a big fake and it takes to long to get your stick back up.

i knew how to fake with a normal stick, but I really got better at it after I got my Mini Finalizer that I played around with while watching tv. Faking at my lil brother and making him flinch is fun.

3)cradle around the house
4)too do stuff u wish u could do in a game but kno u would never try because your coach will break his clipboard over your face.....

haha I definately agree with number 4. I do some tricks using my mini razer. It's also fun to customize and mess around with a min stick. I decked it out in a sick school color dye. I taped up the shaft and dyed the tape too. Half of it black, half of it gold/yellow. Very flashy and fun to use.
As for fakes, do something small but believeable. As others have said, a small fake and a shot is better than a huge crowd pleaser with no shot afterwards.

Yeah make sure you're always carrying your stick around the house and such, practicing your fakes. Doing that was the main reason I got good with faking.

ask you coach for a chance to demonstrate your fakes. I will let my players do stuff like that if i believe that they can actually do them sucessfully
what i ask is that they show me the fake/trick. they then need to be able to pull it off in a scrimmage situation, if they can make it work in a game situation at practice, i give them the go-ahead to to do it in a game, after we have talked about when that particular thing is appropriate.

when attempting that between the legs dont follow through and let the shaft hit you in the balls because that ends up being painful and the goalie will wet himself watching you gasp for breathe
