Wow, I can't WAIT to see how they have screwed with the game this year.

I honestly think there is some lacrosse illuminati that sits in a dark dungeon every fall and just discusses how they can control the game more and not let coaches or players get used to an actual concrete set of rules year in and year out.

Good work, "higher ups".

Unfortunately, those "higher ups" are actually committees of coaches, not officials. We (LaxRef in particular) can make suggestions and recommendations, but it is up to the coaches to approve...

How did you get yours?

They've been available through the Fed website for a few weeks, but they cost $6.50 and the minimum order is $10 before shipping. So I waited for the USLacrosse website to have them; it wouldn't even let me place the order until they were in stock. Now they're in stock, and they want to charge me $10 in UPS ground shipping to send me a tiny book that I know for a fact can be sent USPS Media mail for under $2!

On principle, I'm not going to pay $16 for a $6.50 book that I should be able to download as a .pdf file anyway!

ordered long ago thru my state association. 40 copies at $4.50 apiece. NFHS sent the box to my state association who sent it to me. I pay shipping.

No State Association here in PA to help. We've gotten them thru the Delaware state association in the past. Big delays... Perhaps the SOC can eventually step in here and help?

PLOAREF:
You just gotta find it ironic that a lacrosse backwater like Vermont with a rip-roaring list of35 refs gets its rules info way ahead of the Lacrosse Holy Land with its 487 BGO officials.

Here in Michigan we can get them through the MHSAA, I'm not sure when they will be sending them out however.

You just gotta find it ironic...

You know well that the "big" lax areas in the mid-Atlantic metro corridor have a lot of endemic problems, many based on their unwieldy size and a liberal dash of institutional inertia. Oddly enough, the sport's growth in the "fringes" of these very areas are causing many of the problems. Here in Philly, we have about 200 members, counting youth, and we have done well at adding new people, but the rapid growth both internally and on the edges of our territory is producing a demand for more and more qualified people, belieing our feelings of accomplishment. It's one reason the YOC and the SOC need ever greater support from the "big shots" in the COC. As fast as we add folks at the younger levels, the faster the COC seems to "steal" them at the older...

It's good to see (and be a part of) the improvement of this situation up and down the ladder. i expect the SOC to further this improvement. Now, if we could just get our derned rulebooks before January...

i started my zebrawork in District 1 ('83) and made many a pilgrimmage to the "backwater" you live in. If i drive up there this spring, you'll have a game or two for me, right?

If any of you have an extra one or two, would you please mail it/them to me? I'll be happy to pay for the book and the $1.00 each postage. If you can, send me a private email for my address.
