i use the rhino skin 3 but it kinda breaks down. it also isnt fun for long sweaty summer camps. what you you defensemen (or defensive teammates) wear. i want something with like no weight or constricting of movement. i was thinking of soemthing like the g forces or the insaintiy shoulderpad liner. but i dunno

I use the G-Forces. Those things are so hard. The other kids on my team take baseball bat swings at me and I can barely feel it... And it makes no sense since they weigh nothing... So go g-forces.

Most people would say go as little protection as you can, but you may wanna consider pads that are at least well padded over the heart. Just remember that story about the kid who died from a shot to the chest. If you haven't heard it, google it and you will find it.
Also, if you are a D guy like me, you get good clears from time to time that turn into fast breaks, and you will get slashed. So keeping that in mind, something with bicep pads might be a good idea.

get something light weight and small. You dont need big protective ones for defense.

I don't get the emphasis on as little padding as possible. I make some pretty big hits, and I like my hefty shoulder pads. May just be me though...

I recommend gait sp liners like the insanity, chaos, mayhem, or flare liners

i got a pair of Warrior MLL 4.0 for free and ripped off the shoulder cap, bicep guards, torso piece, and back piece... now they're practically nothing, i love 'em
pretty much any shoulder pad that isn't extremely bulky will work like mine. Brine SP4's also work very well.

its all personal preference (how many times have you heard that..?) i like practically nothing because i dont need it. i dont mind getting hit, and its also easier to throw..

Agree with a2
Get small and minimal bulk shoulderpads. Personally, I would avoid the ones with the big, plastic shoulders. They restrict movement. Just get a simple, basic pair that doesn't get in the way.

if you are doing any hitting, get the shoulder pads that are protective and have the plastic cups. you will thank me when you are 40.

altering shoulder pads is illegal.
you can read the discussion on that in the thread i linked to above. if you want pads without bicep protection buy adams pad liners, but those are the exact pads that led to my problems

wow. i didnt know big hits could cause shoulder problems in the future. my dad is a weightlifter and he hurt his shoulder bench pressing a while ago and now he gets those cortisone shots and he cant bench press anymore.

See technically the hitting part is suppose to be with your arm more than your shoulders, thats why you dont exactly see companies coming out with football size shoulder pads.

Every video I have ever seen has said put your shoulder into their numbers... You just can't as much force when you lead with your arms, and they are libel to break...

Well then a former teammate of mine from long island who is right now at St. Leo and played for 6+ years said never to hit with your shoulders into a guy cuz then your likely to break your collarbone. Like I said technically a hit in lax is a push with your hands as you know, if everyone hit like you advocate then the current pads wouldn't do anything. We would have to move onto football shoulder pads. And you could get alot of strength in your hits if you had alot of forearm strength.

If you want the bare minimum, which would probably be the most comfortable, you could go with the gait chaos or insanity shoulder pad liners, the harrow sabre shoulder pad liners, or the STX EXO shoulder pad liners. You can remove the extensions for any shoulder pads that have extensions on the sides that are connected by velcro strap things.

I've got Exo shoulder pads. I keep the extra back pad on, put the extra shoulder caps on, but leave bicep pads off. I like the protection and they're pretty light too.
