So, I was wondering how many of you use Creatine or Weight Gain, GNC-supplements, or any of that stuff? I heard from some of my Football friends that they use it a lot, and whoever isn't on roids uses some sort of supplement. I just wanted to know who uses any of this stuff, and what do you have to say about it?

I started using a whey protein supplement a few months ago...the gains were great and I wasn't even that serious of a lifter. I'm thinking about moving up to Creatine sometime soon, its supposed to be really effective.

Based on my own experience and feedback from friends, I highly reccomend a supplement for your workout diet.

Yea, I use creatine/protein, and have used glutamine. I like them, they have worked for me.

I use protein powder and MCT oil. MCT oil is basically liquid calories and I add it to my protein shake and drink that instead of a weight gainer because the oil is tasteless and much cheaper then weightgainer (about 40 bucks canadian for 67 tablespoon, and each tablespoon has 120 calories), and doesn't have alot of the unhealthy fats some weightgainers have. Glutamine is also very effective for recover, but my protein powder ( I use PVL Whey Gourmet) already has some in it.

No, i dont need it. Thats what the superbowl is for. Putting on massive amounts of weight from bad food in a very short period of time.

i was just going to start a thread about creatine. I wanted to know if it was good or not cause i heard if you under 18 and you take to much of it its not good for you and i heard it could cause dehydration.

Creatine is a natural supplement that is found mostly in red meat, so I don't see how it could be that bad for you. On the other hand my bio teacher told me its bad for you because of all the excess water running through your kidneys can wear them out, so I don't really know if its good for you or not. There is literally a ton of info on it on the web, maybe look at bodybuilding.com.

i dont use anything.. protien gives me mood swings/ highs and lows and I dont see any better recovery time or any of that, creatine does nothing for me, and as for the rest of GNC products i guess i kind of feel theyre all just marketing scams. Maybe I didnt mean scams, but just a waste of money. WHatever i want to make my body like i know how to without supplements so Thats just how i roll ;)

So when you eat a hamburger you get mood swings?

creatine does nothing for me,
probably because you didn't do the loading phase or are using it incorrectly

No a loading phase in most cases is not necesary, but it could be that he has higher levels of creatine in his body allready. For some people it just doesn't work. I do agree on the hamburger thing, "mood swings" what?

haha, no I dont get mood swings from eating a hamburger. Well I guess I didnt really mean mood swings but it does make you happy when you take it, like it or not. Same way every other food does. But for me whey protien magnifies this phenomina by like 100. So then once it dies off or I miss a day im excessively sad/depressed becasue my body is so used to taking this laughing powder. If you really dont belive me I can go into a little bit more detail through PM's. I just said pms :(

Just take protein powder every day. This topic reminds me of the book Dune, ya know, with the spice and all.

I take protein powder.

Wow, dude you have to be kidding. Whey has ZERO addictive ingredients. Sugar is more addictive. That makes no sense whatsoever. I'd go get your dome checked, man. That's not physical or hormonal, that's mental.

Did I ever mention the word addictive? Go back to first grade. Just for clarification, whey protien isnt addictive at all. Your post was centered around an idea that I hadnt intruduced to this conversation and should therefore be ignored..
EDIT; You must have been reffereing to htis line"So then once it dies off or I miss a day im excessively sad/depressed becasue my body is so used to taking this laughing powder." I can see why you would understand that to mean addictive, but thats not what I meant. Its just your body being used to something and then when it doesnt have it it reacts harshley.

Actually, the fact that you said it made you feel "sad/depressed" is grounds for bringing up addiction.

Addiction is when the body becomes dependent upon a substance, either chemically, physically or mentally. When the body is deprived of said substance, it manifests itself mentally/physcially making the body feel sad, depressed or sick.

First grade was fun, though - wasn't it?

Well I guess technically you're right. Speaking strictly technically you could also go and say that people are addicted to food, because when people dont eat enough they get sad, depressed, or sick. Well I may have hit something here; If people get that way from missing food, and whey protien is kind of like a food(protien comes in food), isnt it possible to get addicted to it?>

It is possible by your definition, and therefore my original statement is verified by your dictionary definition. Thanks.

i wouldnt say addicted, but after a while i know i became afraid of what might happen if i stopped taking it. Even though i know nothing would happen except slower recovery time, and it would be harder to build more muscle. I Still get worried that some supernatural process in my body will whipe out all my gains over the years.

Clay are you asking because of everything that is in my gym locker at the J. I thought we already talked about this.

I use everything but Creatine, mainly because one of my gym teachers told me of people's hearts failing because of it

I don't think there is a documented case of creatine causing heart failure.

I use creatine, glutamine, and whey protein. Creatine in the morning after breakfast, whey protein after work out, and glutamine before bed.

Naw I'll just take your word for it on that, and I'll be sure to give my gym teacher a hard time.

I don'y know about you, but in my experience people say, and try and tell kids alot of bs when it comes to supplaments, don't believe everything you hear. Some things people come up with, are just plain stupid.
