View Full Version : Instructive video on cradeling?
Me and some of my friends want to start a lacrosse team at our school because it looks like a great sport. We are trying to learn alot about the sport and I am going to buy Mark Millons Offensive Wizardry video. We are haveing some trouble cradeling and all the posts I have read explaining it have not helped much. We don't know anyone that plays to show us, so does anyone know anyone instructive videos I could buy that show how to cradel. Please help us out.

You don't need one. It's really just like curling a weight, but you rotate your wrist while doing it. Once you have that try different variations and vertical. Just curious, how are you starting this team?

Just kep wrotating your wrist while holding the ball in your head, it will come naturally in about a month. I think its great your starting a school team i got into lacrosse because all my friends played it and it turned out to be fun now we have 200 members at our club.
Also cradle constanly werever you go in your house or outside it(not to a store or anything thoyugh). All things comein time.
Yeah we're trying to start a high school team none of my friends play we just think it looks really awesome. There are teams around us in other cities we could play they are pretty good so we would take a beating but it would be really fun. We are going to talk to the atheletic director of our school and try to get a coach. I don't know anyone who plays so I guess we will just have to figure it out as we go. When cradeling do you move your arm of just your wrist and how fast do you do it and how often?

Mark Millon's Offensive Wizardry covers it, so if you get it that will help. Basically, it's going to be tough at first, but one day you'll just be able to do it - at least that's what happened for me. So just grip your stick and kind of curl your wrist and forearm at the same time to make the rotation. Be sure to hold the stick in your fingers versus your palm though.

Well go for it and yes lacrosse is awsome newsflash. heh problem is it doesn't get the notice it deserves. For cradeling simply practice makes perfect. Its not difficult just watch some NCAA videos... what u really need videos for are for more advanced fundamentals... That assume you've already developed the basics. Just practice to start off with and train ur muscles even a simple thing as cradling can be majorly improved simply with strong arm muslces.

How fast do you cradel?
It's whatever is natural to you. I personally do about once a step, maybe once every two steps when I'm holding with two hands, and I rarely cradle with one hand.
Cradling's more of a natural thing. Don't try to make it mechanic; just learn the fundamentals of WHY you cradle, implement them, and innovate.

you dont cradle fast or youll look like a retard. it should be one fluid motion. dont shake your wrist, that just a jiggle. think about it, cradleing is all about momentum so its harder to check the ball out of your stick. once u get the offensive wizardry video it will probably have something in there about cradling. before you start a team you should try to learn to catch, pass, and shoot so that u can show your players what to do.

actually i think the best way to explain cradling is more fingers less forearm and wrist movement atleast when your about to pass and such basically just lay your shaft in your hand so your fingers naturally curl around it and then try to rotate your stick using just your fingers and a lil of your wrist i hope that helps and then you can start to learn how to do it one handed , don't forget to work on both your left and right hands and such
