bow flex is popular, but expensive. Just get one of them huge rubber exercise balls and some different weight dumbells, and maybe a long strip of resistant rubber. There are plenty of exercises you can get from just those.

Free wieghts period. Machines Tend to only work one muscle and not the croe stabilizer.

Dont buy a home gym yet, you dont even know how to train. Once you find out whether you like machines, freeweights, plyometrics, cardio, etc you can decide what type of home gym to buy. You should get a membership at the cheapest gym, or any gym if your parents will pay for it, and just see how you like it for a couple months. Buying a home gym now restricts you VERY much compared to going to a gym, and you need to be able to explore every type of training to see what you like/whats best for your goals. Im sure if you bought one now in a few weeks you would quit using it. It just doesnt offer enough variation.

I agree. Try it in a gym to see if you can do it properly. No point in wasting money on something that you may not know how to work properly and something that may cause injury with improper methods. Try seeing if your school has a gym and see how much a membership is. At my school they have one and a membership is just $10 for a year. The only downside is that you can only go in it when there is a teacher in there.

As for a weight machine go for bowflex if you wish to spend upwards of $1000+. Check in your local flyers and in the classifieds. Most people are selling good machines for cheap prices.
