Do you really drink red-bull before a game. You must be so wiped after a game. But hey, Red-Bull is better than those sobe adrenaline rushes and etc....

My friend did that for wrestling except instead of water, who would chew gum instead of eating to make weight. The teachers would make him spit it out. Then when he got back to his seat he would start chewing gum again.

I try and drink water during the entire day, before every practice or game. Being high school, my options are somewhat limited, but I'll try and eat something not to filling with carbs and protien.

lots of water, maybe a balance bar, but i like to keep my stomach pretty empty a few hours before gametime, then pig out afterwards. Im tempted to try red bull though, a few kids on my hockey team swear by it.

I try not to use gatorade before or during a game. I usually use it after a game to hydrate me faster and quench my thirst. I also drink some water before and after a game.

03-12-2004, 11:40 AM
Not to sound like a mom or anything but eating something like pasta like an hour before a game would probably be best. Because it is a compound carbohydrate and it will give you more energy for while your playing. Also followed by lots of water to keep you hydrated!!

crispy crusty tender flaky crust... hot pockets and a lot of water

i'm not much into that red bullsh*t...

call me mormon, but I dont think caffeine should be taken just so you can get a boost of energy... your supposed to supply that energy naturally, from within yourself...

GreenBayLaXr
03-21-2004, 01:32 AM
Personally, during the season I eat 3 protien bars and 3 protien shakes a day... Gameday I skip out on 2 of the shakes... drinking one shake an hour before gametime and ofcourse... water all the time.. I wait til halftime to slame a red bull, and then drink a second redbull during the second half. I never experience cramps or anything...

haha all that citric acid from the orange juice will really screw with your stomach during the game. if i drink it for breakfast my stomach freaks out even in second period weight training. the banana sounds like a good idea though...

before a game, i usualy have quiznos toasted subs

but what would be smart to have is one of those fruit drinks with bananas, strawberries, and oranges in it, with a big plate of pasta, no sauce, and an apple.

but im a defence, so that doesnt require as much running as midfield or attack. so im sticken with quiznos

HAHAHAHAHA, oh I'm in tears, that was a rather self-righteous rant you had going there, anyways chipotle is a restaraunt-esque place that specilizes in *mmmm* burritos.
And I agree eating a mexican before a game would HAVE to mess with your digestive system, they're too high in cholesterol too.

I dont worry too much about RIGHT before a game, you guys forget that it can take almost 1 or even 2 days before you fully digest your food, so what i do is the night before a game i eat a high carb meal with a banana (potassium stops cramping). Right before a game i do eat oatmeal though with some fruits in it. That way i am just full during the game. Being hungry at halftime sucks!!

Whenever i am about to have game or run, i dont eat anything except saltine crackers and water. you can have those to almost right before the game and they wont make you sick. i hate that feeling so i dont like to eat anything for like 5 hours before a game, but that always leaves me tired. with the crackers i get some energy with no sore stomach. i think it is really effective. of course i dont know if it is just plecibo or if it would work for everyone. if any of you try it plz email me back and tell me how you like it.

During XC seasons we'd have get-togethers with the whole team at someones house the night before meets/invitationals and there would be a variety of pastas and sports drinks available. Eating that stuff the night before or morning before a game will really help you more than just cramming it in an hour before the game.

Defiently. I eat nanners and some carbs (usually just some toast and maybe some other bread stuff)/ The nanners keep your muscles from cramping up, and the carbs give you evnergy. havent tried the red bull/ gatorade combo yet. i drink a lot of water as it is, so i dont really worry about that. a lot fo rest helps to. if your games after school..well sleep during school of course.
