do you mean like a box fake(full out fake) or just a regular twisty sorta thing? anyways, it depends on the amoutn of whip, etc. just keep trying in your room or something and eventually youll get it

Yeah dude, just practice differnt fakes. That stuff will come. Trust me. Practicing in your room is a really good idea. Keeps the stick in your hands and what not.

According to Mark Millon's Offensive Wizardry one of the worst things people do when faking is bring the stick out. He said you should fake with your shoulders because when you fake with your stick (half shot into cradle, which I think you're talking about) you take precious time to reset, giving time for your d-man to check you or the goalie to reset himself.

http://ww.e-lacrosse.com/2004/tmcamp/1.htm watch the video on the left, and you can see that gary gait fakes so that his stick is within like 2 or 3 feet of his face. i think this may even be too much, you really just need to turn your shoulders quickly and maybe turn your stick, but then bring it back so that your ready for a shot.

faking should be done primarily with your shoulders and a slight flick of the wrist (top hand that is) the stick should be about a foot to a foot and a half from your head (if not closer...)

it should be close enough that if you get in trouble you can pull off an accurate shot that goes in to the net soo within a foot or less

if you go like you're gonna throw a jump pass, and let the head get a ways away from your body before flicking it back, even good de has to think twice, which is ALWAYS enough time to burn em

depending on what level you're at or trying to get to, I wouldn't suggest making huge fakes.. they are ok if you have the space, but they are not really fundamentally sound, and you can draw enough attention by stepping in an making yourself a threat..

the time it takes to wind up, throw your stick forward, then pull it back for a pass or shot becomes too much of a liability.. though you may be able to squeek by with it for now...

To fake a goalie, you have to make the stick move enough to sell the fake, but not too much that you wreck your shooting opportunity.

(A goalie once told me that he's able to read most fakes well by keeping one eye on a shooter's elbows (on a fake, most guys don't move them the same way as when they're shooting). Just a thought - try some mirror work to get a more deceptive fake happening.)

I dunno about trying to faking out a d-man......whenever I'm guarding someone, I don't really watch their stick much, but focus on keeping me between them and the net.....fakes are irrelevant to a D-man because even if they do pass/shoot, you still need to stop them from going to the net for a pass or rebound.
