oo to answer canadian lax's question we have to buy our own uniforms and pay for ice time which is a buttload since out school is so poor plus i'd have to buy some new gear since i havent played in ages

okay well my city has US hockey, and 2 high schools with teams. so ice time aint cheap and because of this we only have a Large Varsity team.
but i rather play a easier league for more play time.

I have a couple of friends who will own you all at hockey, unfortunately I cant say the same about myself. 2 freshman friends who play Bantam A in Minnesota which is "the state of hockey" and believe me, its true. One friend is a freshman that plays on the 3rd line of our dominant varsity team. I wish I would've played, but in Minnesota you have to start at age 5 if your going to even MAKE a team... there is no rec league, either ur good or u suck. I started getting interested 2 years ago, however too late to learn to skate and expect to even get on the ice. Anyways go against any one of my buddies and you will get owned. Also one of them on bantam A went to the Vail shootout for lax, on Minnesota Chill U-15, but I didnt have enough money for the freakin 1,000$ 1 week trip, so I didnt tryout.

Hockey is my home sport, but they don't play it in schools down here in the south, so we're limited to very expensive non-school leagues. the closest we come in school is foot hockey in gym class, which is actually surprisingly fun, mainly because no one wheres any pads or anything. they actually stopped allowing us to play in middle school after 5 broken noses (two of which were my fault)

but to answer your questiom, yes, i play Ice and Street Hockey, mainly as a goalie, but also as a center.

... just because you have more A's in the level doesnt mean you would crush us. Our high school has had almost 40 alumni in the NHL at one time or another. we also had every one of last years senior starters graduating into WCHA schools. ex MN gophers, MSU spartans, North Dakota, etc. Highest level of College hockey. Being from Canada doesnt automatically make you a better play than us. I would seriously LOVE to watch our varsity play your team, basically to play on Varsity you have to play JV as an 8th grader AT LEAST. Minnesota and Colorado are top 2 hockey states, and Bantam A is the feeder system for HS varsity hockey. Your team might be able to beat our bantam A team, but I wouldnt talk until you know what you would be up against. Btw, we have one player who has already signed with an NHL team, but is going to Minnesota Gophers for college.

And watch out for Danny Matson and Mark Delude...both freshman made varsity this year, and making varsity as a freshman at arguably the best high school hockey team in the U.S....i think thats pretty good...so look out for those names in the future. ya beat that.

Friends of mine here that play AAA are going in some tournament against a bunch of prep schools from the US and one or two from saskatchewan. so i was wondering how much of a challenge it will be for them in this tournament.

Dude, one of the top five players in our city didn't start til he was 14...if you want to, you can...just know that you will need to put extra skating time in to catch up...inlne hockey rec play and practice can put you in good stead.

Yeah, it will, as long as you don't allow your speed to "compensate" for lazy play...work on the stick, eh?

I play inline hockey and indoor lax...the combination works very well, these being the two forms of the sports that are most alike, eh?

...of course...but if you have a couple of years, and you do the work, you can become a valuable, contributing member of the team...

That's what the thought was about, wasn't it? "Do I have the time at this late date to make it worthwhile?"

I'm telling the guy yes, but only with the work involved...even in Minnesota (I graduated from high school in Upper Michigan)...

I going to play Bantam AA next year for the Junior Everblades. Were from Florida. Most people think that Florida hockey is terrible but its actually not. I mean I know were not on par with Canada or Minnesota but we played some teams from up north and smoked a few and didn't get blown out except for one game against a good canadian team. We also have 3 kids from our last year's AAA team that got invited to play with the Syracuse Stars Bantam AAA team. One of my best friends, Jeff Heuerman, had a scholarship to play for Shattuck's but instead lived with a family in Michigan and played for Compuware AAA.

500th Post. I'm proud of myself.
