try a 1 millionth thread of the same kind board. I hear they are pretty good. JK, but seriously, try a Ride snowboards Catalyst as a great board for getting into the sport. It was my first board.

What is your price range that would help. I ride a 2004 forum board and forum bindings. Very Very good board but probably not in your price range. if u want a nice board get a forum or a burton on something along those lines .. but for average boards id probably say like ltd, lamar, along those lines

If your price range is sub 200s, turn to sports authority, and if you're not, go to the nearby board shop and check out their stuff. Personally, I think burtons are overpriced. I have one and It was 350$ and didnt ride as good as the 120 dollar one I started on. I lied about the ride catalyst earlier. I just got that last week. It was 260, on sale for 90,with salomon sp2 bindings it I started on a gnu antigravity. Great board.was 160, and Sports Authority goofed and it only cost me 30 dollars. so SWEET. It's ride is amazing.

Go for a burton.
I hear K2 and Ride aren't bad either but I have always had Burton so I would not know for sure.

No, get a Never Summer. They are handmade in Colorado and have an awesome ride. Best boards ever made.

Also, rome snowboards are pretty good and affordable. Lamars are too. :monkey: BTW, what happened to the headbanger icon? Maybe that wasnt here.

None of you can tell him what to get unless you know what he rides.
Do you ride the park? Or do you ride the actual slopes?

Lol, not trying to brag or anything but im pretty knowledgable about snowboarding as I have been doing it since like age 4-5. Ride catalyst is an entry level all mountain beginner board . at sports authority they carry the Morrow truth snowboard, which is a more intermediate board. It can be used as Freeride/ freestyle. It also has the sidewall thing that is thickest in the middle which is very good for turning. I started on a lamar, which was nice, I used it in the park also. If you want more intermediate-expert level tell me because im not gonna type out all out.

Ok so I just put my boots onto the bindings on my new board, but the toes hang off the board by 1.75 inches. Is this bad? I have a size 12 boot, and the board is wide as it is.

just go to the nearby board shop and check out what they have.
I have size 12 boots too. What's the waist width of your board? Mine's 25.0 CM and I've got some solid overhang. Heel and toe. Try moving your bindings back so that you have equal overhang. BTW, think outside the Burton/K2/Salomon/Ride type thing. Burton is a megacorp with megamoney, as is K2, Salomon is owned by Adidas and Ride is everywhere and I don't know the story behind that. Look at smaller companies, a lot of them make amazing boards.

Ok, For unta that is toe drag. You may just want to put your bindings back a little, if your toes arn't catching the snow and making you fall or effecting your riding you should be fine.
As for the main question. Rome snowboards does make some great boards, burton does also. You should just search around for snowboards. Burton makes the blunt which is actually a great board, its a lower version of the dominant. Some websites also have packages to sell as a whole.

OK kids!!! lets get real here!!!!! listen ive worked a board shops for over 6 years.. i rode for nikita, spy, and betty rides, i know whats going on.. i have owned over 14 boards and 12 bidings been riding for about 10 years.. i have delt with many companies about their products messing up on me and customers in my shops.. flows are a joke!!! you wana be a gaper go ahead they dont do anything for you just a waste of money.. same goes for tech nine they make their products out of skate material.. you have to understand alot of the snowboard world is about publicity, and what looks cool!!!!!
burton blows and so does nitro, sims, rossignol, santa cruse, ride, forum and their companies and people that work there .. pshhhh!! u might as well take a 2 by 4 and throw some bindings on it wax it up.. now that would be worth the money you pay.. i have owned 3 burtons and everyone has lasted me mabey a month.. burton is stingy with their money and dont reall care about their boards believe it or not!!! they are not made very well at all they just look cool. they are very corporate and really dont take time into their boards unless your a pro... its all about money to them and plublicity to the riders!!!!!! I SAY GO FOR THE SMALL COMPANYS these people do it for the boards, they spend good time and a lot of great riders design theses contraptions ....now it all depends on what u want to be hitting up riding wise..
back country: you need something quick and stiff something that will react to every move and will last you no matter how manny times you crawl over rocks and trees and wont bail out on you... for that i recommend a never summer i have the infinity it has lasted me through wolf creek back country and even wistler.. its great and well they know how to make thier boards..
park or pipe or a little free ride: you want something that gives a little bit, it doesnt react to the smallest move.. its a little more forgiving.. its flexable and smooth and wont peel the graphics or crack anything valuble..you can get great air even on the smallest kickers and its great for just screwn around on the hill like butters 3's anything !!!!! for this it realy depends on what u like the most.. for park i say a ROME artifact in what ever size you need the smalles it a 150 i have that.. i own this one and its AMAZING have had it for 2 years!!!! it throws frount sides backsides 50 50s and everything in between like butter on any rail or box or table esspecailly likee roller costers and c rails.. its amazing in the pipe you barley need to pop to get anything and anything inverted or spins is great.. even for beggining.. you wont get hurt as easly cause it barly catches an edge.... on kickers its light esspecailly when ur hiking the park and throwing any threes is way easy you dont have to worry about weight just throw the shoulders and it all goes smothly... this company knows how to bulid them , yes they are owned by burton but they are onlu a small sub company like anlog...stepchild boards are sick i own one and so does andy finsh and ikka backstrom.. or unity.... if you dont want this lib techs are nice but well they mess up alot and sending them in takes a longgggg while...
DO NOT i repeat DO NOTTTTTTTTTT!!!!get a burton, forum, nitro, sims, ride, santa cruse, Rossignol or any of those huge companies !!!!!!
i swear from experiance of my own, from pros i have chilled with and customers DONT !!!! save ur self time and money ok babe!!!!! just trust me!!!!! u will regret it !!!!

Burton used to be good, until thier dedicated deisgners left to create thier own company, which is now known as ROME. Ive owned 6 snowboards so far and what I can tell you is that the boards the worked for me best were my Salomon, and my ROME.
Oh and yes, flows are a complete joke. The mountain i go to sells them but no one watches them, 3 have been jacked and they really dont care.

depending on hwo long and what kind of stuff you want to ride
i have a burtn custom but the cutom and the custom x are the only two boards id recomend from burton. im sorry to all you hardcore burton kids but a lot of there boards are trash they jsut arent made at the quality that they used to. for just some good old riding try a 150 range ride timeless from last year those worked well also burton custom and custom x's are good i have that same custom that was shown here
I got my burton for 400$. It works great a year later.
ive had mine for a year its good but ive kinda trashed mine from riding it 4+ times a week but i doubt youll be out that much so burton customs or last years timeless is what id recomend

p.s never ever ask for a sales persons help.. always research first and listen to good friends, preferably people who know whats up (aka. have been ridign for a long time) ill tell you right now alot of these kids havent owned very many boards and havent really been riding that long... all they know is whats been ok for them.. usually all they do is just ride they really dont get out there and test the boards.. which is ok and a ton of people are like that!!! but seriously they only go by what they hear is a good board.. usually from mags. and sales people.. thoes two are all about selling.. they dont care what they sell, as long as it makes them money...sales people are sometimes liars.. is funny when you know more. cause they will say something about how good the board is then you ask them something more indepth about teh board and they kinda back away.. next time you go to a shop.. look at a board as for help then listen to what they say.. get a nice nice board.. then move to the next board and the next and the next. promise you they will constantly tell you how good these boards are... anyway so yeah moral of the story... educate ur self with the factsnot by rumors or what you hear....!!! try demoin some boards up at the mtns. early sesaon you'll get a great feel!!!!
peace love
