I searched, came up with 9 pages, and i searched the first 6, and no guitar threads....
soooo how many people here play guitar?
i was thinking about getting a guitar, electric, and i was wondering if its really worth it, because i have been wanting to play the guitar for a couple years now. It is really worth buying a guitar, lessons, and all the amps and everything that goes with it?
if you do play, say what songs you can play, how long, and what you want to be able to play
thanks
edit: ahhh sorry http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=27118&highlight=guitar

Howdy there, I play and have been playing for about 4-5 years now. I have both acoustic electric guitars but I prefer acoustic over electric. I first started on bass though. I definitely find that it is worth buying a guitar, but I taught myself, and you do not need a good amp right now. All you need is like a 15-25 watt amp. I can play things from Dispatch, State Radio, Modest Mouse, Phish, Grateful Dead, Jack Johnson...A lot of stuff, but would love to be able to play stuff like Santana.

I think gutiar is absolutley worth it. It develops hand-eye coordination, and a little bit of wrist strength so, in a way, it helps with lacrosse. I've been playing for about 2 and 1/2 years now. I can play all sorts of stuff, like some Creed, (not very proud though, 'cause Creed isn't that good) and some Led Zepplin. If you want to learn some easy, but popular songs right off the bat, try learning some Green Day. Usually it's just power chords, and that's easy. Nirvana is easy too. I'd love to be able to play some Alter Bridge...Mark Tremonti is amazing.

guitar is definately worth it. i play mine about 5 hours a day. i sit it right next to the computer and play whenever im on here. if you get into playing, dont get frustrated in the beginning. its really hard to pick up for some people (i give lessons). i can play basically anything... and ive been playing about 6 years.

Ive been playing since this summer. Ive got like an 18 watt fender amp and will be getting a new 60 watt amp soon. I would say buy a small one to make sure you like it and to figure out what genra of music you want to play, then go for the amp with more wattage and that gives the best sound. Also, like Daron Malankian from SOAD said in an interview with guitar.com, "Masturbation is great for the right arm".

Thinking about getting a nice little Fender Tellie.

Word. I left my band, so I didn't need my bass anymore. So I sold it, and bought a pair of Supercrosses.

I've played bass for 3 years, after playing other instruments for 6 years. I play mostly jazz now... I can't find anyone that doesnt' like crappy music to start a rock project with--I have high standards.
I have a curbow 6 string with US bartoloni pickups...
And my amp: Ampeg SVT-350 with 810 cab. She's a monster. I want to get a vintage tube SVT before too long, and a decent 4 stringer...

this is kinda old but i wasnt sure if i should start a new thread or not, or even if what im thinkin is thread worthy...basically i have a friend that is insanely talented at bass, he's been playing A LONG time & on days like yesterday when we didnt have school i guaranteed you he played for at least 5 probably between 6 or 7 hours...he'll start playing & just make it up as he goes & it'll sound really tight...........while i was over there he was showing us this incubus video, & they have a new bass guitarist cause apparently the old one was an ***....well the play the song drive, but they let the bass be the only guitar, & the electric guitarist is playing keyboard...it was so AWESOME!the bass guitar is like the heartbeat of a song
