OK, so I was being a bit naughty and looking at my xmas presents ahead of time. It's not really that bad because I helped pick them out, but whatever. Anyways, I was trying on my new arm pads and I realized there are 2 left ones in the box. So should I just wait till xmas and then try and get them switched and hope that they will do it, or tell my Dad and try to get it switched now?
And I know this is lacrosse related, but I thought due to the main subject matter, it belonged more in this forum. Sorry if I was wrong.

I would wait because if you break the news they might go off on you.

I would just tell. All you can hope is that your dad doesn't hurt you.

dude i thought you did something really bad... oh well, when did you buy em, if you have enough days left on the receipt then wait till xmas and return em, if not and since you did help pick them out just tell your dad and get em switched, who knows, he may let you have em early

Come on man, wait. It's a nice thing to do when parents spend all this money on you. You may not think Christmas is more than just presents, but they think a lot of it. They work hard to get the right stuff, hide it, wrap it and everything. Though it might not mean much to you, it could mean more than you think to them.

Ahh, bellieslax, good point. Thats probably what would happen. I guess I'll just wait till xmas.
And justlaxin, what did you think I did?
Just be like:
"Dad, can I check any lax stuff you bought me to make sure its the right size, Im worried that things might be the wrong size/brand/type/fit etc. This way you dont have to worry about getting stuck with an expired return period or something."
Its not really a big deal sneaking a peak, its tradition. He shouldnt be very mad.

i'd wait, because my plan as the adult in that situation will be to return them and NOT replace them

Don't think that I'm being really shallow or something. The reason why I was hesitant was because I figured my dad would probably be upset that I did it. I didn't spoil a suprise or anything, the things aren't even hidden. I was in the store with him when he bought them, and I put them on the shelf of his closet when we got home. He knows I know what I'm getting, my parents usually let me help pick most things because I am kinda hard to shop for I guess. They still get me a few suprises, and I don't go searching for those. I like to be suprised.
And spenny, that is what I was afraid of, which is why I've decided to live with it until xmas and then just bring them back. My dad is a master negotiator anyways, I'm sure he will be able to get it switched even if the recipt has expired.

when you got them did you see the size? Because maybe you can say something like you tried a pair on your friend has at that size and that they are to big/small and when he ask you to try them on you can say wait a minute these are two left ones or you can trade them in. idk

Nah, that won't work. We went back twice because the first time they didn't have the right size.

I would wait, i mean, if you going to get them for christmas anyway, you could might as well wait another day, its not like theres going to be a winter lax game the day after (if there is, well im sorry). But thats what i think.

sell them to a 10 yeard old little fat rich kid and insist your dad never bought them and that he ruined your xmas. throw a temper tantrum that santa and all the elves are out to get you and out of sympathy your dad will buy new ones.....
never tried that but i heard it works

Most places give you a certain amount of time after Christmas to get your stuff returned. They know that people buy the wrong things, and they buy them and then the regular return period has experied. When in doubta, say you got them as a gift and never got a receipt. That excuse works everytime.

I like that excuse the best but if it were my father, he'd snicker and not let me near the presents.

Tell them you "accidentally stumbled" upon them, and you "couldn't help but" notice that there were 2 left pads...
What's done is done, and a potential problem can be avoided with quick action--that's what I'd say to my parents in a situation like that.

Its not like you didn't look at them when he bought them so...yeah whats the point of not speaking up.

Shoebag i have a very similar problem. I found some arm pads, and they were 2006warrior MLL elbow guards, but i asked for g-forces, so i just keep dropping hints 2 them
