View Full Version : Coloured sticks?

One of my guy lax friends told me if I buy a coloured stick the other more experienced girls won't take me seriously on my new team.

Just wondering if you girls have an opinion on this. I'm going to buy a new stick (hopefully today!) and if I like a coloured one will likely buy it, but I just wanted to know what everyone else thinks.

i don't think it will matter what color stick you get. just make sure you don't get one of the clear-ish ones (they come in several colors & often have glitter in them, too). brine & stx makes them usually, i believe. they crack really easily.

It all depends on what you mean by colored stick. There are typically two color heads, yellow and white. DeBeer makes sticks that come in pink, royal, titanium, red, purple, green, etc. along with white and yellow. Personally, the color of someone's head does not matter to me. The only time I find it kind of annoying is when girls buy those glitter heads, or the STX patterns like zebra or stars and stripes. I know its stupid but for some reason I just find it a turn off. A dyed head is most defenitley cool though. I would never descriminate or not take someone seriously because of their stick though, that is just preposterous. I would personally never buy a head like that but if someone else had it, its all well and good.

Just get what you like. I can see reason behind your friends statement but if someone is shallow enough to judge you on your stick then you dont want to know them anyway. On thing to note on why this might be true is most beginners or youngsters usually get "colored heads."

Oh yeah, definitely agree with that - I'm not a fan of sparkles at ALL.

glitter/clear heads make the girl look like she thinks she's the ****, but she's really not. i'd go w/ yellow/white while you're still a beginner. cuz the stick draws attention to you... and if you well... aren't good, then ppl will notice right away. but if you're progressing quickly, def get a stick that has a cool design. wait... what the hell, just get whatever color stick you like. who cares what other ppl think. you play lacrosse, you're ment to be an individual. get whatever color you like when you see it. don't worry so much about what other ppl say.

i say nay to the clear/glitter sticks, just based on the supposed weaknesses in them (not sure if that was confirmed, but either case, not a chance i'd care to take) besides, i'm a bit of a minimalist, my starting stick is all black (black head, black, designless shaft, black ballstop, black strins, black leathers)....and ironiclly, that's drawns some attention too

I love hot pink. I just got brand new DC skate shoes - black suede with hot pink laces and hot pink soles. I want a stick to match.

All my friends think I'm crazy.

whoa, I'd imagine a hot pink goalie stick would be pretty distracting

i will have an all white stick as soon as i get it restrung (it's currently white head/shaft/mesh)

saving $$ for a funky new colour....anyone sell a solid yellow shaft? (not gold, yellow like the ball yellow)

you know how it's coloured on?

with my other shafts, they are AL600s, but I just chipped hte paint off, and a bit of paint remover for tougher spots (not like it was my game stick anyways)

Yeah, its a special rubberized paint and I assume the black is over the yellow...so if you want a yellow shaft you'll have to go another way.
