How many of you have field turf and/or a dome at your school? We do, we just added the new longer field turf with little rubber tire bits grinded up. We also just put up the dome over the winter.

yea maki we got the same thing, we play on the football field but we have like 8 extra fields, 1 for jv and the others for practice, in the winter we play on the field turf with those rubber things that annoy the hell out of u since they get stuck in ur sock\shoe

You have a dome at a HIGH SCHOOL? I have never heard of that before...
Anyway, we have a grass field but its really nice. A rubber track around it.
There's a new high school in the area with a real sexy turf field. The high school hasn't opened yet so I play my winter league games over there...I like the little rubber things.

In the spring, my school is getting turf. It's during the lax season, so most to all of our games will be away. I think it's pretty awesome, because if you talk to anyone who has played on our field, they'll tell you it sucks. And it really does suck.

my skool's field is torn up to pieces. sometimes the ball gets stuck in divots that the football team leaves.
but i cant complain cuz i played on the football team and made those divots

Yeah our school has had turf for a decent amount of years now. Dude having a dome must be soooooooo sick! I hope our school gets one. and as for turf it feels so good on your feet when you take off your socks!!!!!

the other schools have one. we have a really nice grass field. i like grass way more because it is softer and doesnt burn. but it does get really torn up and that is the bad thing. i hate those stupid rubber things. get in my gloves and shoes and onmy mouthpiece!

yeah we have field turf. i love it b/c you can play in literally any weather. we've played in 2 inches of snow and you still get decent traction on the stuff. it drains really quickly too.
theyre also putting up a new fieldhouse thats supposed to be finished by spring break but i dunno whats supposed to be inside. i heard it would be like a rubber composite basketball court surface for volleyball, which wouldnt make sense since we have like 3 gyms for volleyball at each campus. there might be some kind of turf they can roll out. that would be amazing....too bad it doesnt look big enough to have games inside there.

laxer41 and i go to the same school, and the dome has been really nice and lacrosse gets the most hours on it, its pricey but i think its been a great decision to get it especially since were up here in THE MN

we have a small stadium with field turf+ a track surronded by a fence

Yeah the dome is sweet, but we arent even the first HS in the area to get one. Eden Prarie, Holy Angels and Plymouth all have domes and all are within 20 minutes of us. The dome is SWEET tho, when its like -30 up here in MN its like 40-50 in the dome. The turf is awesome, if the grass were like a half inch longer though it would be sweet. but field turf is definetely the way to go, its so soft and doesnt tear holes in your body if you fall.

we dont have that Nexturf, and i hope we never do. I dont like playing on it. i like the feel and traction of grass. Grass adds a whole new variable to the game, Long, short, wet or dry, Flat or hilly. You have to adapt your game and it the way the game is supposed to be played.

We have a beautiful 1 year old turf field. I get a little wet everytime I see. Whenever we have home games you can see how jealous the other schools are.

My high has a turf field, really really nice. The one with the little rubber things, then there was a nice track around it. Only lacrosse didnt get much time on it, which I didnt like. My college doesn't have a turf =(. We did go to a school in Maine with the "rug" turf, what ever its called and I did not like that at all.

Our field sucks, during football season everyone on the football team called it the sandbox:banghead: The word is they're going to redo it during the winter and it'll be good as new by lax season, and I hope so because right now it is completely unplayable for lax.:whyme:

I hate turf, I'm glad we don't have any either. We play on a really nice grass field and that's the way I like it. It's so flush, evenly cut, it just looks amazing (even when it's covered in snow). It adds another aspect to the game too. I'm a goalie and turf is supposedly easier to play on because of bounces, but man, I just love grass fields. Our practice field is pretty nice as well. Come to think of it, all of the fields on campus are really taken care of. I give mad props to our school, I think we have like 28 fields (all, not just lacrosse) and each one looks beautiful.
I play several games during season on turf, and a lot of field. I play all winter on turf. When season hits I just can't wait to step onto the grass. I just like it so much better. To me, a well maintained grass field will dominate a turf field anyday.

What school?
Laxer41, our area is rich as hell! maybe its a georgia thing, we do have some sweet locker rooms, but we cant use them, and there is this building with a balcony that over looks the field and some how you can watch foottbal games from it, but we cant use that either, i guess it doenst matter for me, but i guess its cool.

my schools field turf is really nice... there is nothing like the ease of scooping up a ground ball on field turf, and our stadium/locker rooms are high relgarded as one of the nicest to date. The stadiums beautiful, but the field turf does spoil you greately, playing on grass now is just horrible haha. http://www.wcsu.edu/planning/images/stadium.jpg and http://www.wcsu.edu/sports/stadium082604.jpg

we have a normal grass field, but during the winter we play at an indoor arena with the field play crap... last week i laid out while chasing this kid on a fast break, i hit the bottom of his stick and he couldn't shoot... but i ended up sliding about 7 feet and i have burn marks/scabs on both my knees and my right hip and elbow (i was wearing elbow pads too... figure that one out lol)

the baseball players have a little batting cage, everyone else can leave, because lacrosse gets the freakin dome. Football doesnt really play in the winter, and soccer gets a lot of time also.

my high school we played at the best natural grass site in ohio, said referees.
but i loved playing on gurf (field turf, grass / turf whatever) last year. i like the bounce better but i hate the little rubber crappers that get in your cleats / socks. No fun. Not one bit.

You might be too young to remember but pomperaug used to have the crummiest field ive ever played on, except for new fairfield's old football field. But pomps was just beach sand because they were going to resurface it in the coming summer, it was horrible like you would scoop the ball and about 20 pounds of sand with it, uhh it was bad

At Oberlin, our indoor practice field was turf, however you sometimes couldn't see very well indoors and we then had to adjust to grass after the weather warmed up/ice melted. Supposedly the school is planning to build a turf feild for lax and soccer on the pld practice fields, but the AD who proposed that left the school this year to become one of the track coaches for the next Olympics. IF (big if) I ever win the lotto I'll build them a pressurized lax bubble, with a statue of myself out front giving double guns to all who enter.

we got the field with rubber things, more and more schools in the area do, even public schools spend like all their money for the field, of coarse i live in one of the richest areas in the U.S.
im in middle school and our football team is 6-8th grade, so basically starting playing football in 6th grade on turf field is sweet
i wish i could have, started in 7th and its also a lax and soccer field

My alma mater let us play on their football field the last couple years I was there, and I love the new NexTurf. I think there might be a couple subtle differences btwn NexTurf and FieldTurf, but they are still very similar.
With the old, retro-turf, my knees would bleed down to my ankles. A couple times, I had to leave the field to (hope to) cover/clean all of the blood. Somewhere out There, the better parts of my knees are in the old turf, in little pieces, immersed in blood.
FieldTurf lets you cut, change speeds, and change directions very easily, and it gets EVEN BETTER when it is wet. And if you get taken down/cheap shotted, or you just scrap for that gb and your knees go on the turf, it usually results in only a strawberry.
Only drawback is sometimes those black dots get in your shoes, which then get all over your room/garage...Small price to pay for saving your knees.

Yeah lacrosse is the most downlooked upon sport at our school sucked.
Get this, last year, Freshman Boys Lacrosse Team. Ok so for lacrosse balls, did the school provided them? Nahhhhhh we had to bring them in. 2 each just so we could practice. Now thats bad. Hope so bad that I make varsity this year.

Reminds me of Wittenburg's carpet over concrete turf for their Football/Lax field. Nothing but rolled ankles and rug burned and bleeding knees for the bus ride home.

o ya, turf burns, man those r nasty, i still have mine from football season, they basically burn the skin off and u get a pink part for a long time and some times their huge. and my knees even sometimes got hurt. But its better than rolled ankles. our JV practice field is like grass with huge holes everywhere
