Name for my new lacrosse franchise

Ok.. this team is going to be located in western new york.. the main base of operations is going to be Corning New york.. I need some help with a team name.. I would like to keep it as historical as possible...

what I've come up with so far

Crystal City Pilots

Western New York Pilots

Finger Lakes Pilots

.... I took the name pilots from a time period when rafters would "pilot" a raft and guide timber down the chemung river..

some historical points about the area:

corning is known as the crystal city, we are part of the twin tiers, corning is famous for glasswork and its artisans, natives used to thrive in this area, corning and knoxville combined to form the city of corning, etc, etc...

so anything along those lines works for me.. just need some help

I think Crystal City Pilots has the best ring to in my opinion. I like the mascot idea, very original and region/context sesnitive, and then of course there's the tlf contingent which abhors plural mascot names sans the "s" on the end. Hope this input helps.

I originally loved the idea of crystal City something...but as I was having some deep thoughts on the can I got to thinking...that would confuse me if I were an outside team or fan...
I am going to say stick with something corning...while I am not so hot on the idea of pilots because everyone will think planes...I do like the idea of using crystal or something to do with glass...that is what I think of when thinking of corning...ill keep thinking of some actual suggestions...but thats just my 2 cents so far...

Also, the home base will be Corning, but who knows, we might be playing out of Rochester, or Ithaca, or somewhere else if we ever get this thing off the ground.. I didn't want to limit it to a city, just a geographical area..

glassworkers seems to wordy, though pincers does have an interesting sound to it, though like pilot it could get lost in translation. Masons is also a good idea, but be wary if the local freemasons don't seem to keen on it (idk if they'd actully give a hoot, but since you were concerned about sharing Crystal City..)

Have you thought as far as dominant colours yet? I don't know the area, or any Can-Am teams other than Newtown, so I've nothing to offer there.
