Well, I've never been a big fan of Squires. They aren't incredibly well made, but they'll work to get you started.

drums (1 duh)

Why did you say 1 duh? Many bands have multiple drummers probably the most notable is slipnot who has 3.

he mean't like of course they would have a drummer unlike not having one. he wasnt saying only 1 comparing to multiple ones, but instead a lack of drummer.

squiers are okay........i only use them for practice though. my gig guitar is a gibson les paul standard. it's pricey, but if you have the option for it or a PRS get it cus they rule!! also, to play a live show you should have at least 50 watts of amplification

It's fine for practice and if you're just playing little gigs around town or whatever, If you start doing stuff with more than say 50 people in the audience, then go for something a little nicer, maybe just a standard fender strat or fat strat, or if you want a different sound then a les paul or sg would do very nicely for hard rock/alternative/ maybe a little blues type stuff.

The most notable is probably the greatful dead, who used 2. The greatful dead was much more popular than slipknot...hopefully.

Get a 7 string. They are awesome. I love mine. Used for mostly metal.

i have never seen someone use a squire before in a gig or anything. id assume they would work ok i guess, not putting out as good of tone as a better crafted guitar would. i use an american strat and a nashville telecaster when i play in gigs. but give it a try. if it doesnt sound as good as you want it to, youll have to pick up a better made guitar. im all for fenders. good luck with the band

How big of a gig are you planning to undergo? How big of an amp are you using? Bad guitars sound worse on bigger amps

i think if i get a new guitar it will prolly be a schecter tempest custom they are so nice...and its not like i'm brand new...i've been playing almost 3 years so i can afford to go with a bit of a step up...but idk somthing about me still likes my shotty lil squier
